Baylor Lands Oklahoma State WR Gavin Freeman in Transfer Portal Flip from Tennessee

Oklahoma State rising redshirt senior wide receiver Gavin Freeman has flipped his commitment from Tennessee and signed with Baylor, according to Matt Zenitz. Freeman becomes the third wide receiver commit for the Bears this portal cycle, joining Kentucky’s Hardley Gilmore IV and Colorado’s Dre’lon Miller.
The 5-foot-8, 185-pound Oklahoma City native has totaled 105 touches with 809 all-purpose yards and six touchdowns across four seasons, two of which were with the Cowboys in Stillwater and two of which were with the Oklahoma Sooners. Freeman is also a return specialist and earned an honorable mention All-Big 12 selection in 2023.
After redshirting the 2024 season, Freeman had a career year with the Pokes this fall, hauling in 53 passes for a team-high 481 receiving yards, despite having subpar quarterback play, and four touchdowns. He also had 12 rushing attempts for 48 yards.
Prior to his time at Oklahoma State, he spent two years in Norman with the Sooners, catching 22 passes for 145 yards and carrying the ball 12 times for 91 yards and a score.
Freeman finished his high school career at Heritage Hall with 4,550 all-purpose yards and 50 touchdowns, en route to being named the District 3A-1 MVP and a First-Team All-State selection. Freeman was a three-star recruit and listed as the nation’s No. 135 athlete.
He committed to Oklahoma over Air Force and Texas Tech, starting his career as a walk-on before earning a scholarship in the spring of 2023.
Freeman has one year of eligibility remaining.
