Five-Star Center and the No. 1 Prospect in Texas Visits Baylor

Dallas (TX) Faith Family Academy of Oak Cliff 2028 center Xavier Young‍ took an unofficial visit to Baylor yesterday for a practice. Head coach Scott Drew and company have only one 2028 offer out at this time, but Young could be the next, following the trip.

The 6-foot-10, 210-pounder is a composite top 10 prospect in the 2028 recruiting class and the No. 1 player in the state of Texas. He holds a five-star ranking on ESPN and 247Sports Composite.

On the EYBL circuit, he finished the season averaging 6.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.4 stocks across 16 games played. His role will only increase heading into his second year at Faith Family Academy.

He holds offers from Arizona State, Nebraska, TCU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, SMU, Mississippi State, UCF and Vanderbilt, among others.

Baylor is trying to revamp its recruiting strategy this offseason, and the center position has been somewhat forgotten in the past few seasons. It has been a weakness for a couple of years now. With multiple top programs consistently winning with size as a factor in recent years, this certainly appears to be a direction Baylor could lean back into.

The last time Baylor landed the top prospect in Texas was Ja'Kobe Walter in the 2023 recruiting class.
