Baylor quarterback Sawyer Robertson wasn’t selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, but has signed with the Las Vegas Raiders as an undrafted free agent, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder threw for 6,752 yards and 59 touchdowns over the past two seasons as the Bears’ starting quarterback. Robertson etched his name in the Baylor career record books, ranking fourth all-time in passing yards (7,616) and touchdowns (61), while starting only 27 games.

He has three of the top nine passing yardage performances in Baylor history. In 2025, he lit up SMU for 440 yards and four touchdowns. Then later in the season, he hung 430 yards and three touchdowns on Utah. In the 2024 Texas Bowl, he gouged LSU with 445 yards and two touchdowns.

A four-star prospect, Robertson was a top 150 player in the nation in the 2021 recruiting class. As a three-year starter at Lubbock Coronado High School, Robertson threw for 12,256 yards and 146 touchdowns with just 23 interceptions while completing 64% of his passes. He also ran for 475 yards and 12 scores.

What a shame, especially since our offense was the highlight of the season

Seriously? He's stuck behind Fernando…

Can't believe no other team was interested. I thought he was much better than other QBs who were drafted

Better than Mendoza? At least Sawyer will learn what a real Heisman winner does.

Mendoza will be a big bust. You all are assuming Sawyer will actual make the final roster. A lot of work to be done.

Here's the positive for Sawyer - regardless of the NFL draft, he made a team (lots of players would love to be where he is). He is now a pro and it is up to him to prove, like so many before him, that he deserved to be drafted. So, prove it, Sawyer. The $ and fame will come when you can prove what you can do. Sic'em!

Yet another reminder that the only statistic that means anything is the W-L record.

That and the perception of how well a head coach runs their program and prepares players for the NFL matters more than people think. It's hurting the draft stock of our players here at BU imo

Some of us tried to tell y'all. He might have been our best option, but he ain't the stud people said he was.

Mahommes was 12-16 at Texas Tech.

I am in no way saying Sawyer is Mahommes. But there are always other statistics besides W-L.

This. He was a good D1A QB, but there is a difference between "good" and "great".

It also says a lot about how NFL teams view the Big 12 today. In their mind, unless a QB is other-worldly dominant in the Big 12, they just don't see them as NFL ready. Even with solid stats, the view is that they have played against inferior athletes on a regular basis and so the numbers are seen as inflated as compared to an average SEC or B1G qb.

Unfortunate.

I know I will probably get attacked for this but what record did he set?

He finished near the top of a lot of records for a QB but I don't know of any that he broke? That is what a record setter is. Someone who broke the record. Not just someone who gets into the record books.

I think this slip out of the draft had nearly everything to do with his foot injury. When you are in a group of a handful of QBs around your talent range, they aren't going to take the risk of a draft pick on you. The foot injury also of course played a huge role in his on field performance this year. Running a 4.6 suggests that it's healed, but I think it's nearly impossible to satisfy teams it won't be a recurring issue until they see it on gamedays.

Just saw an Instagram from a Raiders fan site that he's not on the UDFA list. Not sure what the deal is.

Actually, he didn't get a UDFA contract - it went to Clark out of Missouri State. They are offering him a rookie mini-camp spot. What a ****** of an organization and with the signing of Cousins as well, Sawyer agent needs to reach out to the Ravens and get him the hell away from the Raiders.

some of the comments here are funny.

Aranda isn't responsible for the Lisfranc injury that made Sawyer a turnover machine last year.

Sawyer's highlights were NFL starter worthy no doubt...but his blooper reel made him look un-draftable, and the majority of those bloops were not throws made under duress due to a bad OL, they were simply outright bad throws.

If Sawyer's foot had been healthy, he probably has 8+ more TDs (remember all those wide open guys he flat out missed deep?) while having far fewer INTs, and we beat ASU, TCU and UH to go at least 8-4.

Sure, an even remotely competent defense would have also gotten us to 8-4 despite Sawyer's struggles, and the crappy defense was obviously in no way, shape or form Sawyer's fault.

But the NFL isn't going to blame Dave Aranda for Sawyer (throwing from a clean pocket) missing wide open WRs deep.

I agree. The lisfranc injury had a major impact on the season. Was really never going to be a good year with that hampering sawyer. That's why I found it so significant when Cade knighten spilled the beans on this in the spring. Of course the defense was so bad Dave would have lost job but for Mack issues, but this is very important to understanding why the offense underperformed all year. If sawyer and Bryson (or maybe even Dawson) were healthy all year I think that could have been a top 15 like offense. If ifs and buts…
