Alabaster (AL) Thompson High School 2027 cornerback Micah Fleming‍ has committed to Baylor following his official visit. He becomes the first cornerback commit in the class.

BAYLOR 2027 RECRUITING CLASS COMMITMENT LIST

He took multiple unofficial visits to Baylor this offseason, and his connections with cornerbacks coach Jeremy Modkins, assistant director of player personnel Ed Paris and head coach Dave Aranda played a big role in his commitment.

The 5-foot-10, 185-pounder has totaled 137 tackles, 16 for loss, 12 pass breakups, one forced fumble and one interception the past two seasons. The electric athlete has a laser-timed personal record of 4.36 in the 40-yard dash.

Fleming chose Baylor over offers from Georgia, Indiana, BYU, USC, Oregon, Virginia Tech, Maryland and North Carolina, among others. He is a consensus three-star prospect and the composite No. 34-rated prospect in Alabama.

We haven't beaten anybody out until he's actually signed. I might even go a step further and say we haven't beat anybody until he plays a snap for us. Such is the reality of NIL.

To provide some context, Fleming and McCorvey play at Thompson HS in Alabaster, a suburb of Birmingham. Thompson has won the 7A Alabama State Championship six of the past seven years, so it is a juggernaut of talented football. When Tua Tagovailoa's
family moved to Alabama when Tua came to play for Nick Saban at UA, they chose to reside in Alabaster where their younger son could play. Thompson is thee dominant high school football program in the state.

I'd venture to say that in that case even more such recruits will be Baylor bound. BU is paying an astronomical, though unacknowledged, opportunity cost at present.
