  • Home opener and start of a three-game McLane homestand
  • First meeting between Baylor and Prairie View A&M
  • Chance to bounce back from a 17-16 loss to Auburn
  • 254 Night at McLane; Baylor Backyard Live with Suede before kickoff
  • Defending SWAC champion on a short week after beating Texas Southern 52-14

  • No previous football meetings
  • PVAMU opened 2026 with a 49-30 loss at Tarleton State
  • PVAMU then won the Labor Day Classic, 52-14 over Texas Southern

Keys for Baylor

  1. Finish the game early. Do not let an FCS opponent hang around after a one-point loss.
  2. Establish the run with emphasis. Get Dawson Pendergrass going and keep Lagway on schedule.
  3. Clean up the details on offense. No wasted possessions after the Auburn finish.
  4. Stay assignment-sound. Attack on defense and run up the sack and TO total for the season, but play clean.
  5. Play 60 minutes. There is no reason this can’t be a rout from start to finish.

Players to Watch

Baylor: QB DJ Lagway • RB Dawson Pendergrass • WR Louis Brown IV, Gavin Freeman, Dre'lon Miller • TE Tony Livingston / Matthew Klopfenstein • LB Travion Barnes, Kyland Reed • DL Hosea Wheeler, Jamaal Whyce Jr.

Prairie View A&M: HC Tremaine Jackson • RB Chase Bingmon • Labor Day Classic offensive pieces off the 52-14 win

Was hoping for 45+ to 0 at half but with a backup QB and center I'll take what it was. Thoughts below

Losing Tezino hurts but DL still looks like they'll be difficult for most Big12 teams to handle.

DB's look much better not having to cover dudes for eternity.

Kicking looks like it will be an adventure but glad to see two good makes. At least there's a chance (preferably not on the right hash). At least has the leg for 50 if needed.

I'd like to see Louis Brown haul in a contested deep ball and build some confidence as our deep ball guy. McGowan stepped up seemingly out of nowhere. Hopefully can continue. Was Porter out?

Most I think see why Lagway was left in vs Auburn. Bennett has a much stronger arm than a guy his size should have but still a good bit of wood to chop in maximizing that arm talent. Not as concerned about the timing misses (more reps can hopefully fix that) but the hurried throws into coverage were of concern. Take a sack or take off running. Against a Big12 team last night was probably a 4 pick outing. Griffin has more wood to chop but glad he got into the game.

To people asking where Arandalytics went. I honestly think we wanted to get the kicking game some reps. Also it's an FCS team that's not a Dakota State. Expect it back in force for Colorado in 2 weeks.

Through 2 games this team has shown a much higher floor. If we stay healthy I don't see anything under 8 wins being acceptable. Tech and BYU are best teams on our schedule and they looked anything but invincible this weekend.

I can see how the new LED lights are nice for certain events, but they sure seem very distracting at times for the players. Before one of the field goals, the kicker was blinking rapidly as the disco-like light show was taking place.

It wouldn't be as bad if they could program the scenes so it doesn't go almost completely dark to blinding light repeatedly. Set them so there is just enough variance in brightness to make it look interesting, work more with color than brightness, interchanging green and gold light or something, but blending more slowly back and forth, not 80s disco strobe style.
