I'll acknowledge the positives. I'll also acknowledge the negatives. There were too many of the latter today in a game that should have been well in hand by the midway point of the third quarter if not halftime.

We had every opportunity to run away and hide today and kept an inferior team in the game until late in the fourth quarter. That's been a hallmark of the Dave Aranda era, and I'm not going to pretend it hasn't been because won.

Doing this on a phone tends to be an adventure. I know Dave can do nothing right to this crowd, the die has been cast. Knowing Aranda's past and the schedule there will be legitimate ***** session games I am sure. This was not one of them. QB was efficient, D looked serviceable, and game was never in question. Take the good when it comes, there is enough bad out there. We could be Jet's fans...

I have no issues moving on from Aranda. He has earned it. Just not mid-season. If this team can go to a bowl and have a little success it would do wonders for the school.

Do we have the 12M for the buyout? The donor's ready to pony up?

If not, I got news for you I don't see BU getting rid of him until after the 2029 season. I can't see them paying 12M-ish just for a new HC? Especially is he is moderately successful, he goes to a bowl every 2 or 3 years. Has a Conference Championship. Now with NIL that 12 M can be used on players, who will come for money no issues.

My bet right now, is BU let's the contract expire before we see change. The "feel" will be good enough...

Baylor proves every day, along with many loyal fans, that they don't have the will or the desire to be competitive, if anyone tries to justify keeping Dave for any reason. Dave makes new mistakes every year. We know that, because he tells everybody what they are.
No problem, though. Spav's failed run game will put so much pressure on the passing game, resulting in failed 4th attempts and lost FG opportunities, that 4-8 is likely and the Vibes that Dougie feels toward Dave will peter out.

First time I got to see a whole BU game live this year -

1- Oline and RBs are what I thought - mediocre on their best day - 3.8 per carry against a middling Sun Belt team ain't gonna cut it - protection might be serviceable

2- the little QB Bennett had a nice day - but he doesn't have a feel for backside pressure - needs to get that

3- penalties and TOs - particularly at the most crucial times continue to be a staple of Aranda coached teams

4- Why do Dave's teams play without energy, focus and discipline, juice whatever you call it - for 2 quarters per game? Last year it was the in the first half and then a scramble to catch up in 2H - now the last 2 games we decided to take the 3rd quarter off?

5- Defense is improved but looked unfocused and missed a bunch of tackles in Q4 - still not sure about the LB play

Overall - without a running game - with penalties and turnovers being part of a typical Aranda team, nothing has changed my total win projection at 5 - I sure hope I am wrong

Well, just as a reference point there, LSU averaged 3.4 yards per carry against that middling Sun Belt team (on almost the exact same number of carries).

The team mirrors Dave's slow, plodding, lack of energy nature. They seem never to be fired up because he's functionally incapable of motivation.
You can rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic, but the ship is still going down.

I have no issues moving on from Aranda. He has earned it. Just not mid-season. If this team can go to a bowl and have a little success it would do wonders for the school.

If not, I got news for you I don't see BU getting rid of him until after the 2029 season. I can't see them paying 12M-ish just for a new HC? Especially is he is moderately successful, he goes to a bowl every 2 or 3 years. Has a Conference Championship. Now with NIL that 12 M can be used on players, who will come for money no issues.

My bet right now, is BU let's the contract expire before we see change. The "feel" will be good enough...


Baylor proves every day, along with many loyal fans, that they don't have the will or the desire to be competitive, if anyone tries to justify keeping Dave for any reason. Dave makes new mistakes every year. We know that, because he tells everybody what they are.
No problem, though. Spav's failed run game will put so much pressure on the passing game, resulting in failed 4th attempts and lost FG opportunities, that 4-8 is likely and the Vibes that Dougie feels toward Dave will peter out.

So the buyout isn't prorated? Like get smaller with the number of years left?

You guys tell me? What I found said 12M if he is fired before the contract expires. But, who knows, AI is wrong alot. I would be happy if I am wrong.

SI isn't reputable, for one. And nobody but Baylor has seen Aranda's contract. The only thing we know is that his buyout was certainly a factor in deciding to retain thus far. During this season, hard to say what the buyout is
