WACO, Texas – Baylor men's basketball announced its Big 12 Conference schedule for the 2026-27 season, with the Big 12 releasing all conference games for the upcoming slate. The Bears' 18-game conference slate begins at home at Foster Pavilion on Jan. 2 and runs through the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship in Kansas City, Misso. in March.
The Bears open conference play at home against Kansas State on Saturday, Jan.

I'll take a stab at it. The NET ratings being a key metric in determining NCAA tournament selection has effectively killed home-and-home nonconference matchups between P5 programs. You get penalized so little for losing a neutral site game to a quality opponent that programs just don't schedule anything other than neutral sites any longer.canoso said:whitetrash said:

Can't help but think of the CAB days when football got pilloried by disgruntled Baylor fans for scheduling cupcakes. Maybe someone can cogently explain the discrepancy, but I doubt it.

It's not just Baylor suffering from this. Pretty much every basketball program is only scheduling neutral site games, non-con invitational tourneys, and cupcake home games, with a few of the blue bloods excepted.
