BREAKING: 2019 DE prospect Matt Jones commits to Baylor

Baylor has landed a commitment from 2019 defensive end prospect Matt Jones‍ out of Odessa Permian. Jones had offers from Illinois, Texas Tech, and Nevada among others.

Jones (6-3, 227) played linebacker for Permian a year ago but will move to the defensive end position for his senior season. He is set to play the DE RUSH end position for the Bears. 

BAYLOR 2019 COMMITMENT LIST

Jones tallied a SPARQ score of 111.96 at the Dallas Regional of The Opening which included a 4.79 40-yard dash and a 4.20 shuttle time.

He is the first defensive end prospect committed for Baylor's 2019 class.

Kid is definitely a DE in the making. After a RS year, and gaining 20/25 pounds, could end up being a two-year starter.

If he is first commitment for DE, as your article states, then where do they project DE Harrison White from Spring to play?

That's two commits from Odessa Permian players this week. I don't recall Baylor as being a real magnet for Permian players in the past, am I wrong about that or is this perhaps the start of a new trend?

Didn't we get their RB from around 1992? He destroyed Waco High in the playoffs, when Coach Tusa lost a coin flip for home field.

This was a long time ago, so my memory could be wrong.
