Tremendous gritty win for Scott Drew and company. The Bears out rebound Arizona 50-19 and play outstanding defense to put the Wildcats away in the second half.
Positives:
- One of the most dominating performances on the glass I have ever seen. 50-19 for the Bears. As Sean Miller said, “it erodes confidence”
- Makai Mason was phenomenal. 22 points and 7 rebounds. There were so many possessions at the end of the shot clock where he executed shots in the lane.
- Terrific defense. Only gave up 6 free throw attempts. Held Arizona under 36% from the field and 33% from 3.
- Mario Kegler showing glimpses of an all conference caliber player. He had 13 points 6 rebounds and made all 4 of his free throws. He hit a big 3 to help Baylor separate when the game was in the balance.
Needs Improvement
- Offense was rough at times. 20 turnovers, 4-19 from 3 (21%) and only 10-20 from the free throw line. We need those areas to get a lot better.
- King McClure was fantastic on defense. Four steals and very active. But he was dismal offensively. He threw up a goose egg in the scoring column, missed the front end of a one and one and had 5 turnovers.
