Softball Takes on Texas State in Midweek Road Contest

 STORY LINES
• Baylor softball travels to San Marcos to take on Texas State for the 57th time in program history.
• Baylor's series vs. Texas State is the eighth longest in program history (UTA 81, Sam Houston 80, Oklahoma 73, Texas A&M 72, Texas Tech 68, Oklahoma State 67, Kansas 62).
• BU and Texas State have played at least once each season since 2003. During that time, Baylor is 15-7.
• Texas State has won the last two games against the Lady Bears - 5-2 in 2018 and 1-0 in 2017.
• Regan Green was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week this week, marking her first career Big 12 weekly award. It is also Baylor's first weekly award of the season.
• Green pitched a complete game in the win over Southern Utah and matched her career high with 11 strikeouts. She struck out 50 percent of the batters she faced (22). It also marked her fourth career double-digit strikeout game.
• Over the weekend, Baylor took part in the Red Desert Classic in St. George, Utah, marking the first time BU has played in the state of Utah. Three of the five games were canceled due to weather. The Lady Bears went 1-1 on Friday against Southern Utah and Notre Dame.
• Kassidy Krupit and Taylor Ellis each crushed a home run in the Lady Bears' win over Southern Utah. Krupit's three-run shot over the left field wall marked her fifth of the year, while Ellis's two-run homer over the center field wall marked her second of the year and fourth of her career.
• Ellis leads BU at the plate with a .367 batting average. In 49 at-bats, the junior shortstop has recorded 18 hits, five of which have gone for extra bases, and seven RBIs with 12 runs scored.
• Krupit is the team leader with 14 RBIs, a mark that has her tied for seventh in the Big 12.
• Nicky Dawson has reached base safely in every game this season, making her 18-game streak a new career-high.
• Baylor is 2-2 vs. top 10 opponents this season.
• Baylor is 8-2 when scoring first in 2019.
• The Lady Bears are 7-1 when the opponent scores two runs or less this season.
• Baylor adds two transfers and a strong eight-member signing class to the 2019 roster.

LADY BEARS AGAINST TEXAS STATE 
• BU has dropped the last two contests against Texas State but leads the overall series, 38-18. 
• Last season, Baylor jumped out to a 2-0 lead over Texas State before the Bobcats plated two runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth to take the 5-2 victory. 
• Goose McGlaun drove in the first run of the game for BU off a single to center field, scoring Nicky Dawson from third. Carlee Wallace then scored Jessie Scroggins for Baylor's two runs of the game. 
• Gia Rodoni got the start, and Regan Green came on in relief in the sixth inning. 
• Baylor's last win over Texas State came in April 2016, 3-0. 
• The Lady Bears finished with three hits in that game as a double by Linsey Hays scored two runs for Baylor. Every BU run came across the plate in the fifth inning. 
• Gia Rodoni picked up the win as she didn't give up any hits through two innings of work.
