Baylor Softball Falls at No. 11 Louisiana

March 11, 2019

LAFAYETTE, La. – Baylor (11-9) dropped a 4-1 contest on the road at No. 11 Louisiana Monday night.

The Lady Bears jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning when Goose McGlaun crushed a home run over the wall in left center field. It marked her first homer of the season and 26th of her career.

McGlaun’s home run was one of three hits by Baylor in the game as Nicky Dawson and Madi O’Neal each recorded one.

Goose McGlaun hit her first home run of the season in the second inning.

In her second start behind the plate, Taylor Ellis gunned down a runner trying to steal second.

Louisiana stranded eight baserunners, seven of which were in scoring position.

26 – Number of home runs Goose McGlaun has in her Baylor career.

Glenn Moore on the game…
“We expected a tough environment tonight against a great team.  Apart from an early home run by (Goose) McGlaun, we were dominated by (Summer) Ellyson. In spite of that and several costly errors we had a chance to win late in the game.   We were able to get the tying run to the plate in the last frame.  Having said that, we won’t win against this caliber team until we start making the fundamental play. But tomorrow is a new day, and we will get another chance to improve.”

Baylor takes on McNeese State in Lake Charles on Tuesday. Originally, the Lady Bears were scheduled to face the Cowgirls on Tuesday and Wednesday, but due to expected inclement weather, the two teams will play in a doubleheader instead on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
