If you have the feeling that Baylor Athletics put together a solid overall campaign in 2018-2019 but didn’t have any evidence to back it up, take notice that your feeling is correct.

In a “tweaked version” of the rankings by the National Association of College Directors of Athletics, CBS Sports released the top 126 athletic departments in the country for the 2018-2019 athletic year.

The Bears Baylor checked in at No. 13 on the list, good enough for the No. 2 spot behind Oklahoma who was the lone Big 12 program in the top 10.

According to an article released on Thursday, CBS Sports rates “every FBS school in three sports -- football, men's basketball and women's basketball -- along with two ‘wild cards’ among the school's most successful spectator sports: baseball, softball, volleyball, soccer, gymnastics, lacrosse, hockey and wrestling.”

The article added that the “weighted formula puts 2.5 times as much emphasis on football and 2.0 times the emphasis on men's basketball compared to women's basketball and the ‘wild cards.’  Teams that did not finish in the final AP Top 25 in football but played in a bowl were awarded 62.5 points (25 x 2.5). Teams that made the men's NIT were given 20 points (10 x 2), while WNIT teams received 10 points. For all titles settled via bracket, point totals were based upon how many teams participated. All champions in the other sports received 100 points for a national title.”

Baylor’s 385.50 points were good enough for the 13th spot, just behind No. 12 Alabama (394.75) and just ahead of No. 14 Clemson (380.50), the two participants in the 2018 College Football National Championship Game.

Baylor earned 62.50 points for their bowl game against Vanderbilt, 100 points for men’s and women’s basketball and 73 and 50 points for wild card sports one and two.

A look at Big 12 programs to make the list:
3. Oklahoma (490.0)
13. Baylor (385.50)
19. Texas (354.50)
t-27. Texas Tech (320.0)
t-38. Iowa State (272.50)
43. West Virginia (255.0)
51. Oklahoma State (225.50)
56. TCU (192.50)
70. Kansas (150.0)
t-96. Kansas State (96.0)
