So once again Baylor's "Process" beats out schools like Texas State & U. La. Monroe for a player. Athletic dept. only tells us about Iowa St. losing to us but really this is the top talent that will get our program to the top level. We must just need the dudes, man.

Who was Briles bringing in? What were their ratings?

Ikr! We beat out the likes of SMU for a quarterback and have to try to get by with him.

As much as I love CAB and the days that were... he is gone and not coming back...this is a thread about a new recruit who is likely going to be a good player for us down the line no matter who the coach is.

The fact that someone is critical of the talent we attracting or the player themselves... is something we had even when CAB was here. The fact of the matter is we identified and developed kids with CAB and had success...we doing the same thing now. I don't care who the coach is we will never be on the same playing field in general when it comes to recruiting kids with 4 and 5 stars as UT and OU...

You have to find kids they overlooking, and or develop kids...I have been impressed with the recruiting ability of CMR to date and how he was able to recruit in light of our misfortunes and the impending NCAA report. He is definitely going after athletic kids who fit a profile and looking to develop them.

Good response that I agree with. Though Space Cutter has used the recruiting scores to be unfairly critical of CMR and what he has done so far as a rebuilding job for this program and saying this is the type of recruit we can only get now. I was just comparing that Briles, who had the most success with low rated recruits to date, did the very same thing when it came to recruiting lower ranked players and developing them. But beside that, your post was right on the money.

I got you and as most know I am a big supporter of CAB but did not want this thread to get derailed into the same old junk that is ruining this site.

I am all about fan forums having fair arguments over various things involved in Baylor football and you are exactly right CAB did recruit the lower rated kids and faced the same criticism CMR faces...some folks just need to come to grips with the fact that BU will never be UT or OU...Thank the Good Lord.

Even with all the issues and everything else we looking at a 7-10 win season this year and a second bowl game in a row for guy who has supported Baylor football for 55 years that is not bad.

I really was not being critical of your post...

Critiques for CMR's recruiting can be documented in a separate thread.

Happy for the big guy and happy for Baylor!

Oh I hear ya and agree with all your points. I think it just goes back that Briles is the only recently successful Baylor coach to compare some of those aspects of CMR's regime to.

Anyways, it's always good to grab a good lineman recruit. Welcome Mose, and Sic 'Em!!!!!

As with every recruit we sign I hope he turns into the undervalued Mike Singletary of his position.

Yes he had offers from those schools. Most and I mean most good JC, 3 and 4 star recruits have FCS and Group of 5 offers to go with their P5 offers. Our competition for him was Iowa State and only Iowa State. When you win over another Big 12 school of your caliber or higher or other P5 program of like quality it's something to smile about.

If Bears can't get For the record, I never mentioned Coach Briles in my comments but some of you have him living rent free in your head. My observation was only how will Baylor ever complete in the top level, assuming Baylor or the BOR even want that, by beating out Texas St., U. La @ Monroe, SMU level school talent. Just saw a 247 article on top 30 football 2020 players. Baylor is never mentioned . If Bears can't compete for the Texas talent then expect 7-6 year after year.

Maybe look at our recent recruiting classes before making ill-informed posts.

Have you looked at our schedule this year? We could easily win 9 -10 games this year...once the NCAA cloud is behind us...coming off a good year this year why would you limit us to only 7-6? Recruiting is such a crap shoot. no way anyone knows for sure how 18 year olds who have usually dominated other 16,17 and 18 year olds in High School will translate to college football players. With scholarship limits and the depth of talent in this State we can compete...UT and OU are the only two schools in conference that will always have built in recruiting advantages over us. That leaves 7 other schools for us to beat plus our non con...you do it right and with our stadium and other facilities we can be in the top three in our conference year after year. We will continue to beat UT and OU some years as well who knows in 10-20 years maybe we are considered a new Blue Blood!

How old are you? I have been watching BU football for 55 years...our commitment to football has never been higher in terms of facilities and money committed to coaches etc. You should have seen some of our recruiting efforts when all we had was Floyd Casey...Briles was great but so is CMR and the coaches on staff no reason for us as fans not to expect the process to work for us. BU football is more than one person more than Teaff more than Briles more than CMR...as long as we are serious about football and with the money spent it looks like we are there is no reason not to expect excellence no matter who is coaching.

Recruiting is getting kids who fit your program model and molding them to your process...no matter the stars. If you wind up with 21 and 22 year olds as a majority of your starters for you every year. kids who have been in your program 3 and 4 years...you will do just fine against just about anyone.
