After Baylor knocked off Iowa State for Big 12 win No. 1 of the 2019 season, Matt Rhule’s contract extension through the 2027 season was announced by Baylor President Linda Livingstone and Vice President and Directory of Athletics Mack Rhoades.

It was exciting news, but no one knew that the 4-0 start to the seson was just the beginning of what would be a 9-1 record and a potential run the Big 12 Championship game in Arlington the first week of December.

With that faith to Rhule and commitment from Baylor’s administration came a reciprocated faith and commitment from Rhule. That was signified by the signing of the contract, but also in the actions following the news.

Most recently, Rhule joined hosts Kirk Bohls and Cedric Golden the On Second Thought podcast to talk Baylor football, but also his intentions on staying at Baylor. The podcast covers primarily Texas Longhorn Athletics among other subjects.

“For Mack Rhoades and the people at Baylor to recognize what we’ve done over the last few years that means a great deal to me,” Rhule told Bohls and Golden. “I’m planning on being here for a long, long time. In fact, I’m trying to convince my wife to buy a place on the lake down near you guys.”

He continued, “We absolutely love it here. I think it’s a wonderful place and I think this year has shown me and shown everybody just what Baylor can be.”

Rhule added that he was transparent with his players at Temple about his interview with the University of Missouri back in 2015 and again with his players at Baylor when two NFL organizations reached out to Rhule after his first two seasons in Waco.

I've been a fan of Rhule since he took over. The program is in good hands.

I just felt a great disturbance in the Dark Side of the Big XII, as if the head coaches and athletic directors of every other school suddenly - on hearing the news - exclaimed "Oh Shhhhhhhiiiiii"
That which does not kill me, will try again and get nastier
