Hostile road environment doesn't rattle Baylor in 57-52 victory at Texas Tech

January 8, 2020

LUBBOCK — They screamed that Scott Drew was a cheater and insisted he’d slipped the officials a wad of cash.

They poked fun at Matthew Mayer’s hair—“Yo Shaggy, where’s Scooby?”—and told him to hit the weight room because he’s too skinny.

They yelled for Mark Vital to put in more work at the free throw line—instead of the buffet line—because he’s too fat.

“Hey No. 11!” one of them howled at the junior forward. “You should be in a commercial for Golden Corral!”

From the opening tip until the game’s waning moments, a gaggle of Texas Tech students maxed out their vocal chords Tuesday in an effort to rattle fourth-ranked Baylor before a sellout crowd of 15,098 at United Supermarket Arena.
