Q&A with DeSoto defensive lineman and new Baylor offer Byron Murphy

March 24, 2020

Baylor’s newest offer on the defensive line for the 2021 class is DeSoto’s Byron Murphy II‍. Last year at The Opening he posted a score of 95.79 which included a 5.09 40-time, a 31.3-inch vertical, a 4.66-shuttle, and a 38-foot power ball at 6’0, 276 pounds.

On the season the three-star defensive tackle had 98 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, and a touchdown. He was a 6A first-team all-state selection.

What did you think about earning the Baylor offer?

I was really exited and happy, I had been waiting on this offer for long time!

Who on staff has been talking to you the most?

I’ve mostly talked to Coach McGuire and Coach Johnson.
