BREAKING: Baylor lands grad transfer outside linebacker William Bradley-King

Baylor on Thursday landed a commitment from one of the top graduate transfers in the country: former Arkansas State outside linebacker William Bradley-King.

The 6-foot-4, 248-pound King will play the JACK linebacker position for the new coach Dave Aranda, who throughout his career has sent a wave of players at that position to the NFL.

Bradley-King finished his ASU career with 14.5 sacks and 24.0 tackles for loss.

Bradley-King is a redshirt senior with just one year of eligibility remaining. He entered the portal on April 3rd and was almost immediately in contact with the Baylor staff. The relationship strengthened over the past few weeks, and Bradley-King decided Thursday that Baylor was the place for him.

In 25 games over the past two seasons at Arkansas State, Bradley-King racked up 82 tackles—including 25 for a loss—and 14.5 sacks. He was first-feam All-Sun Belt selection last fall after finishing second in the conference in sacks (8.5) and fourth in tackles for loss (13.5). He also forced three fumbles.

Bradley-King was a second-team All-Sun Belt pick in 2018, when he recorded 9.5 tackles for loss, five sacks and three forced fumbles despite only playing in 10 games.

A Kansas City City native, Bradley-King brings a tremendous amount of versatility to the defense and gives Baylor a proven pass-rushing threat, something the Bears desperately needed following the early departure of James Lynch to the NFL and the graduation of James Lockhart.

The photo used for the article alone should have its own article.

Sounds like a potentially big "get" for the defense. I wonder if going forward Aranda is going to make more of a serious push to recruit big, physical SEC type linebackers that can also run on the defensive side.

Good find, DD. This is great news, and affords us time to recruit a good one for the future

Added one for 2020 and in 2019. Allows them to mature.

Position needs depth as too, as much as any other position on the team

Why they signed the JC with 4 available and 3 to play.

Last year was the best Baylor defense I can remember. I hope this year we can at least maintain something like the same level. That will be difficult since we lost so many great players: James Lockhart, Bravvion Roy, James Lynch (huge loss), Grayland Arnold, Clay Johnston (another huge loss), Blake Lynch, etc. At least we have some solid pieces that should have some improvement from last year.
