The momentum continues for Baylor in the 2021 class as Georgetown (TX) High School offensive lineman Connor Heffernan‍ gave his commitment to the Bears. Heffernan is commitment No. 9 for the class and the second commimtnet in three days, joining quarterback Kyron Drones‍ (Shadow Creek) who committed on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-4, 260-pound prospect becomes the first offensive line commit in the class for the Bears.

2021 BAYLOR FOOTBALL RECRUITING CLASS

His performance during his junior season earned him first-team 11-5A All-District honors, as he helped anchor a strong Georgetown offensive line.

The three-sport athlete who competes in football, wrestling and track has just started to emerge on the recruiting scene. He’s picked up seven Power 5 offers since the beginning of April, including ones from Syracuse and Mississippi State.

Hefferman picked up his Baylor offer April 23 and committed to the Bears on Thursday, exactly one week later.

He will obviously gain weight and strength as he matures, but he looks to play bigger than 260 to me. Very quick feet and plays with excellent leverage. Give him a year and he'll be 280/285 and in another year 290/300. That will work quite nicely.

Looks like a prototype O-Lineman who will redshirt initially while putting on weight/muscle mass and be ready to contribute the year after and forward.

Unranked by 247, despite 8 offers - curious

I watched this guy's high school film all the way through. He has a very strong upper body, throwing off or down DL if they are his assignment, positions himself well for his blocks, makes some pancakes, sticks with his blocks very well. Not a lot to see in pass blocking, but he moves well so with some training and experience he should be fine. This is the most impressive film of a high school OL I've ever seen. He's really, really good if his film is representative of his work. Looks 4 star good to me. 25 more pounds would make him a 5 star in my book. How does he not even get rated by 247?

Did you ever watch Billings HS tape? That is the one that has always stood out to me, including the video of him on the OL side of the ball.

So, Princeton Pines and Paul Matavao-Poialli have already entered the transfer portal and are leaving so we need to continue signing as many big guys as possible like this since it's pretty apparent linemen are so hit and miss.

Just guessing, but I'm wondering if his size (at this point) is what is holding his rating back as these days any O-Lineman that isn't right at or above 300 lbs. is considered small - even given they're still in high school. If that's all it is, he's definitely got time to rectify that situation.

He's 270 pounds and will add weight. Plenty of those ranked by services.

We saw him last year, along with Gavin Byers, that signed with BU. Heffernan has the feet you want.
