On Tuesday Louisiana Tech broke the news that the Conference USA program would open the 2020 season against Baylor on Sept. 12 at McLane Stadium.

The news comes after several days of uncertainty on who the Bears would open the season against after several conferences and programs, including former Baylor opponent Incarnate Word, made massive changes to the plans for their season.

Along with nine conference games, Big 12 members are allowed a single non-conference game prior to league play beginning on Sept. 26. Baylor was originally set to open the season against Ole Miss, but the SEC’s decision to eliminate non-conference games and play a 10-game league schedule only ended the possibility.

Baylor will open against the Bulldogs in Waco before an off week leads the Bears into the conference opener against the Kansas Jayhawks two weeks later.

That's arguable La Tech was 10-3 last year. They're no slouch and SMU lost a TON

We may end up regretting not scheduling a cupcake like the rest of the Big 12 (other than TCU) did.

When will the controllers at ESPN let us know a game time?

Or Aranda and staff will have the team ready to go play. Baylor will most likely be early odds favorites due to offensive starters returning and what looks like to be a solid defensive group.

No bowl games. Conference is only thing that matters. We have two weeks between opener and first conf game. No reason to not go with as good an opponent you can get. For once we're leading the Big XII in schedule!

Right now there will be bowl games, but with the shortage of schools, it could be losing record teams will get an invite to a bowl as it stands right now. There just won't be a CFP at the moment.

Yes about the bowls, but I thought the NCAA called off all Fall NCAA Championships? Is the CFP a separate entity?

Yes, College Football Playoff is its own entity. Not exactly sure how it works with the NCAA, but that is why they have their own selection committee separate from the NCAA, etc. You can tell the difference because there is the NCAA "March Madness" Tournament, which is hosted by the NCAA and then there is The College Football Playoff, which is comprised of NCAA teams, but makes no mention of the NCAA otherwise.
