Center- Zach Loveday (7-0 215 lbs)

Wingspan:  7-0

Zach Loveday is a 7 footer with great hands and feel for the game.  He has a nice touch on his shot.  He can block shots, rebound, pass, set picks and has an ability to make his teammates better.

Strengths:  As Coach Jakus said on the podcast, his hands stand out.  Many 7 footers struggle catching the basketball in traffic, but that is a strength of Zach’s.  As he gets stronger, he will be a modern day rim protector that is able to hold down the paint but also make 3 pointers and jumpers.  His feel for the game is outstanding.

What Needs Improvement:  Zach like most freshmen needs time in the weight room to be ready for the wars of Big12 basketball.  He’s a good shooter but he can become a great shooter.  He has really nice form on his jumper.

Player Comparison:  Domantas Sabonis (Gonzaga/Pacers) is a player where I see some similarities.  Freddie Gillespie was mentioned in terms of his understanding of spacing and just his ability to make his teammates better by doing little things.

2020-21 Projections

I think Zach is a strong redshirt candidate, so I will go really low on his expected contributions this year but he has a bright future if he uses this year to get stronger and hone his skill.

Scoring: 1-2
Rebounds:  1-2
Blocks:  0-1
Turnovers:  0-1
