Are MBB Recruiting Rankings Destiny or Inexact Science?
CBS Sports released their top 101 players in college basketball for the upcoming season. Baylor will ink a top 5 national recruiting class. Will Kendall Brown, Langston Love and Jeremy Sochan be on this list in the near future? All of those guys are top 40 national recruits? Or are we more likely to see players like Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua and Adam Flagler who were unranked coming out of high school? Are recruiting lists destiny or an inexact science? The answer is a little of both. Let’s look at the CBS list and how these guys ranked out of high school using the 247 Composite index.
Here are the results per original classification year. It is probably no surprise that those that stay in school longer tend to be hard working overachievers who were for the most part outside the top 50 players coming out of high school and have made themselves into great college players as upperclassmen. The younger guys on this list are mostly top 50 players coming out of high school.
