WACO, Texas — In a season that has been full of disappointing losses — many of which have come in the final seconds of the contest — Baylor finally got one to go their way. And to be completely fair, senior Charlie Brewer was the biggest reason behind Baylor’s 32-31 victory despite a sluggish start to the game.
After jumping out to a 6-0 lead on a Brewer touchdown run early in the first quarter, Kansas State answered with touchdown of their own and took the lead on the extra point. The Wildcats then methodically took control of the game while the Bears all but self destructed with poor offense and terrible special teams mistakes.
They didn’t, however, and behind a 405 yard, four-touchdown performance Brewer pushed the Bears to rally from a nine-point deficit to win by one on a game winning field goal by John Mayers as time expired.
Brewer completed 31-of-39 passes for 349 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 56 yards and two touchdowns. Junior RJ Sneed led Baylor in receiving with six catches for 86 yards and a score while junior Josh Fleeks also caught six passes for 68 yards.
