BREAKING: Baylor senior running senior Trestan Ebner will return for 2021 season
The same day that the Henderson (TX) High School product was named the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Year for the 2020 football season, SicEm365 has learned that Baylor senior running back Trestan Ebner recently made a decision to stay with the program for a final season.
The extra year of eligibility given to all players by the NCAA due to the season-altering impact of the COVID-19 virus allows Ebner and all Baylor seniors to return for an extra season if they choose to do so. Additionally, staying at Baylor means that he will not count against the scholarship limit for a single season which is currently set at 85.
Ebner joins fellow 2017 signee and current Baylor senior offensive lineman Xavier Newman by making the decision to stay. Newman tweeted earlier this week that he would also return for the 2021 season.
As a junior Ebner totaled 406 yards and four touchdowns on 76 offensive touches. On special teams Ebner finished the season second in the Big 12 in kick return average (32.2) and first kick return touchdowns with his two in the season opener against Kansas. Ebner was fourth in the Big 12 in all-purpose yards with 116.3 per game.
In his career at Baylor, Ebner has rushed for 896 yards and seven touchdowns on 195 carries while hauling in 99 passes for 1,231 yards and nine touchdowns. In total Ebner has accrued 2,127 offensive yards and 16 touchdowns on 294 touches.
