#2 Baylor (5-0; 1-0) started this game on a 15-4 run thanks to 12 points from MaCio Teague and the Bears never allowed the Wildcats to pull closer than 9 points the rest of the way en route to a 100-69 win over KSU (3-5; 1-1).
Positives
- Focused without one of their top scorers and defenders in Adam Flagler. The Bears had an incredible 1.47 points per possession against the Wildcats.
- 13 assists from Jared Butler. 24 assists on 37 buckets was efficient.
- Davion Mitchell 6-10 from 3; MaCio Teague 5-9 and LJ Cryer 2-4. Great outside shooting.
- Suffocating defense in the first half when it mattered. Held KSU under 30 first half points. Lots of shot clock violations. 19-2 in points off turnovers in the first half and dominated the glass 21-8.
- Everyday Jon with an inspired first half- 13 points. He caught 3 lobs.
- Loved Flo Thamba’s activity on the glass- 6 offensive rebounds. Also MaCio getting 4 offensive rebounds was big.
Needs Improvement
- Davion Mitchell with 4 sloppy turnovers in the first half. Seems like he starts every game with a turnover. But he’s terrific so I’m nit picking.
- Free throw shooting needs to be over 80% to win a national championship I think. Only 61% 11-18 today.
- A little relaxed on the interior defense at times. KSU 22-38 on two point attempts. Baylor was so dominant offensively that it didn’t matter, but there will be games where it will matter.
