As has been the case all season, there was no panic by Scott Drew’s Bears when the veteran group fell behind 11 points within minutes of tipping off against Texas Tech on Monday. Unfortunately for No. 4 Baylor, there was no answer for Tech's advantage at the charity stripe and the Bears dropped their fourth game of the season 84-78.

After taking a four-point lead into the break, Baylor extended that lead out to as many as nine in the second half and held a six point lead with 8:52 remaining in the game. From there, however, Texas Tech flipped the script and went on to take a 10-point lead of their own with 3:22 remaining.

The momentum of the game changed at the 8:29 mark when junior guard Manu Lecomte was called for an illegal screen with the Bears leading 59-56. Lecomte was then called for a technical foul which disqualified him from the remainder of the contest. Texas Tech's Aaron Ross connected on both free throws to bring Tech within one point.

Texas Tech finished the game by connecting on 30-of-43 free throws for the game and were whistled for 21 fouls. Baylor connected on 17-of-25 and were whistled for 32 fouls.

After a jumper by Terry Maston extended Baylor's lead to 61-58 lead, the Red Raiders went on a 10-0 run to take control of the game with 5:00 remaining.

The Red Raiders connected on six of their first seven shots to begin the game, including hitting their two three-point attempts, but the Bears put a clamp down the final 16 minutes. The home team finished the first half by hitting only 26 percent of their final 19 attempts and let the Bears climb back into the game.

With Johnathan Motley playing possibly his worst half of the season, it was Manu Lecomte and Terry Maston who carried the load for the Bears. The junior duo scored 24 of Baylor’s 36-first half points 8-of-12 from the field and a perfect 6-of-6 from the charity stripe.

Lecomte finished with 16 points while Maston led the Bears with 22 points.

Baylor returns home on Saturday to face the Kansas Jayhawks at the Ferrell Center at 12 p.m. CT.
