#2 Baylor (11-0; 4-0) outscores TCU (9-4; 2-3) 40-21 in the second half to claim an 18 point road victory 67-49. Kyle Stevens and Ashley Hodge breakdown the win. Baylor hosts West Virginia Tuesday night 1/12 at the Ferrell Center next.
Positives:
- If you can’t trust Jared Butler who can you trust??? 28 points; 6 rebounds; 4 assists; 5 steals. All Americans do All American things.
- Defense was elite on a day where the offense was not as great as it has been. 0.75 points per possession. Hard to beat with that kind of defense.
- Mark Vital, MaCio Teague, Jared Butler, Davion Mitchell now 37-4 as starters. 90% winning percentage, is that good?
- Thought Mark Vital was terrific. Defense ELITE. Offensive rating 108. That dog will hunt.
- Finished strong! 43-39 at 11 minute mark. Baylor outscored TCU 26-10 the rest of the way.
- 22-10 turnover margin... ELITE
- #1 in KenPom after that win. Let’s GO!!!
Needs Improvement
- Bench production has been terrific all year. Only 6 points in 51 minutes in this one. I didn’t think any of them played poorly, just didn’t get the opportunities that they normally do to impact the game.
- Davion Mitchell’s 3 point shooting. 0-12 in his last 3 games. Form looks good but almost all of his shots are long. Need to see some go through the net.
- Ball movement... ball is sticking a little. Need quick passes to work for open looks. Although I don’t remember any “bad” shot attempts.
