#2 Baylor (12-0; 5-0) wins their 5th game in the last 6 against Chris Beard and the #15 Texas Tech Red Raiders (11-4; 4-3) 68-60 in Lubbock. Next up for the Bears is a Big Monday match-up in Waco 1/18 at 8pm CST on ESPN.
Positives:
- Jared Butler had a rough offensive output (2-11 from the field with 7 turnovers) but Mitchell (19 points), Flagler (15 points) and Teague (12 points) picked up the slack.
- The Bears forced 20 Texas Tech turnovers and held the Red Raiders to 6-24 from 3. They also attempted 8 more free throws than Texas Tech.
- Baylor’s bench outscored Texas Tech 25-5. That was a HUGE factor in the win.
- Mac McClung “got his” but it took 18 shots for him to score 24 points and he had zero assists with 5 turnovers.
- Held Texas Tech to 0.86 points per possession. The Bears now have the #1 defense on KenPom.
Needs Improvement
- 16 turnovers to 6 assists
- Outrebounded 42-37 and gave up 18 offensive rebounds.
- Seemed like Texas Tech won the 50/50 balls all game long.
- Mark Vital was 2-2 from the foul line but the rest of the team was only 11-20. That needs to improve.
