Baylor baseball (8-12, 2-1) defeated Kansas State (13-7, 1-2), 8-4, after an eight-run sixth inning helped propel the Bears to a come-from-behind victory on Sunday afternoon at Baylor Ballpark.
The weekend sweep to Mercer marks the second time in four series that the Bears have been swept. Against Mercer, Baylor was outhit, 35-to-18, and outscored, 24-to-9.
'Where will the offense come from?' and 'Will the starting rotation be a strength of the team?' are questions the Bears will have to face heading into the 2023 season.
Kyle Nevin had an incredible day going 5-5 with three doubles. He also scored three runs and picked up four RBIs to close out the series with a big win.
The Bearkats outhit Baylor 16 hits to 11. But thanks to a couple of 2 RBI doubles from Cam Caley in the fourth and Jack Pineda in the sixth, the Bears were able to prevail.
Without Will Rigney on the mound, the game got out of reach early. Jake Jackson allowed 4 ER in the first and the offense could not overcome the deficit.
