The Bears built a 2-0 lead in the first half with a pair of headed goals before a third header and a low shot found the back of the net for the Green and Gold in the second half.

A trio of second-half goals was the difference for Iowa who controlled the game practically from start to finish and heavily disrupted Baylor with an aggressive high-press.

This will be the 22nd meeting between the two programs with the Aggies holding a 14-4-3 advantage over their former conference foes. The latest meeting was an exciting 1-1 draw last year in College Station with the Aggies equalizing late in the second half.

Baylor soccer’s Azul Alvarez and Callie Conrad were named Big 12 Goalkeeper and Offensive Player of the Week, respectively, announced by the conference office Wednesday afternoon.

Looking at roster turnover, minutes lost and goal contributions returning, these Bears have a good chance to surpass expectations.

The Bear nabs the first freshman team honor for Baylor Soccer since 2020

The Bears were four minutes away from earning their fourth win in a row — a streak of potentially as many games as the team won all of last season — but the team will have to settle for only a fifth game unbeaten in a row.

Tyler Isgrig had a stellar night for the Bears scoring two beautiful goals and assisting on a third. Ashley Merrill was the beneficiary and calm finisher of Isgirg’s assist while the Bears opener was netted by freshman and Manchester, UK native Salma Simonin.

Sophomore Hannah Augustyn, playing outside back today, scored the opener and winner for the green and goal in the seventh minute. Fellow defenders Hallie Augustyn, Ava Colberg and Blythe Obar all made last-ditch saves of KSU shots to preserve the Baylor lead as well.

There may be more questions than answers for the Bears as their Big 12 scoreless streak hits four full games.

The Bears gave up three rather weak first-half goals before Brecken Mozingo netted her second of the night and fourth overall for the Cougars during the second half.

Baylor Soccer rebounded from their Thursday loss in style with a 7-0 drubbing of the visiting Abilene Christian Wildcats. Senior midfielder Ashley Merrill netted the 20th hat trick Baylor Soccer history.

First half goals from Florence Belzile and Abbey Schwarz saw the hosts build a 2-0 lead before Callie Conrad drew one back for the Bears with 15 seconds left in the first half. It was Conrad’s first goal of her freshman season.

The Bears looked to be in almost total control of the game right from the start and dominated possession. Goals from Tyler Isgrig in the 66th minute and Skylar Zinnecker in the 74th minute made the difference for the Green-and-Gold.
