I have not been on the bu campus in a few years. Today I walked around and was floored by the lack of grounds upkeep. 90 percent of the flower beds are over taken with weeds. The trees are not pruned or trimmed. You have to duck under low branches, and the limbs are so thick you can't see the historic buildings in Burleson quad. And grass is not growing beneath the overgrown foliage. Sidewalks a buckling and trip points are countless from disrepair. What is going on? I'm all for the new projects, but we must also maintain what we already have. The campus looks like a neglected rent house!

I can promise you this situation would NEVER have occurred during Abner McCall's time. The fabled maintenance workers of that time , Baylor's "Gray Men", kept the grounds manicured to his high specifications. I've seen him many times stopped and visiting with the workers while they diligently worked on keeping the campus looking great. Their "office/shop" was a wooden building on the Creek between Collins Hall and the Bookstore, and they were out early and did a great job. I loved those days, and my University.

I worked on the Baylor grounds crew summer of '72. Really gone to pot since then.

Mostly just cold beer in early-mid 60's! :-)

Not going to get a lot of love but the last time I was on campus I said the same thing. It just looked rough. I assume this is due to pandemic staffing and donations.

I have been fighting that stuff in my yard for a long time. I cannot get rid of it. I have tried numerous things from killers to preventers and it just doesn't seem to work.
