I was just down in South Texas looking for a fish camp. found a neat little property 1/4 mile off the water. Very reasonable price.
I dont care about cable, however - I MUST HAVE INTERNET!
Its way out in the country, no regular providers out there. The only way that I know I get the net is through Hughes Net via satellite. I've read some pretty rotten things about the service.
Any other solutions?
Basically, it depends on how close you are to some sort of terrestrial Internet.
You know how, at home, your wireless router plugs into your cable modem (or DSL box - however you get your internet), and the wireless antenna lets you get an Internet signal like 500 feet away? Well, if you're creative, have good terrain, and control over the structures, you can shoot that Wi-Fi signal 50 miles in a straight line.
You're building an ethernet "cable" that goes through the air. On one end of that "cable", you have some sort of gateway to the internet. On the other end, you have a distribution point, like another router.
Tricky, and needs the right conditions, but not impossible.
