Born and raised in Waco. Moved to Fort Worth briefly before joining the Navy and spent boot camp in San Diego. Went to school then in Orlando and was later stationed on ships homeported in Norfolk, VA and San Diego, CA.

Moved back to Waco after getting out of the Navy and moved to Galveston and then to Norfolk, VA (both locations were for jobs in merchant marine). Then to South Hill, VA briefly and then to Roxboro, NC to meet my future exwife. Back to Waco after that. Then to Fort Worth and then to San Marcos and then back to Waco. Whew! I'm pooped! I think I'll stay here in Waco and retire, it's not too small and not too big and the pace suits me.
Thanks for your service too!

We have the Waco Sicem 365 lunch coming up at Shorty's Pizza Sept 22nd, 1130am. Hope to see you there.

Hmm... we should PM. I was there around 1966-67, and I have a vague memory of a family that moved to Henrietta.

Bubbadog, check you PM!

Were you a preacher or coach / teacher? Trying to figure out the moves....
I PMed you back. My father was a Methodist preacher, and back then 2-3 years was about as long as they ever stayed in one place, at least in small towns. The old Methodist Church was probably as good a symbol as you could find of what happened to Coolidge. It was a huge brick box with a big sanctuary and a balcony -- probably seated 400 people or more when it was full. (It actually was full one time when we lived there.) But in the 60s Coolidge had only 900-something people, and it was generally no more than 25% full if that. There were lots of rooms up behind the balcony that hadn't been used in years. I used to love exploring in there.

Some of the beautiful old stained glass windows from that church wound up in the Water Works in Waco.

Moved to the big city of Henrietta.

After BU, have lived in Ft Worth (78-79), Henrietta (late 1979-84), Mansfield (1984-90), Hillsboro (1990 - 2000) and now Woodway (since 2000).

Didn't know that anyone on here would even know where Coolidge was!!!

Born in Nyack, New York.

Lived in (in order) started at 6 months - Gilman, Colorado; Sweetwater, Tennessee; Rome, GA; Americus, GA; Martin, TN; Denver, CO; Nampa, ID; Carlsbad, NM (family moved there while I was in college); Waco, TX (school at Baylor and then work til I married); Moab, Utah (family moved there while I was in college). Parents moved to Nevada the year I married and live there for 9 years, so we got to take great vacations up and down the northern CA coast before we had children.

Father was an exploration geologist.

Also has a proving ground, aka giant race track with no speed limit outside of town.

When and where did you live in Americus, GA?

Where did your father work in Americus?

(I don't recall many jobs for exploration geologists in SW Georgia.)

There's a bauxite mine in Andersonville (where the infamous Civil War prison camp was located), which he commuted to. He was a mineral geologist, working for American Cyanimid. He also worked for them in Rome, GA; the bauxite mine was in Adairsville. Over the course of his career, he also worked for companies mining zinc, copper, potash, gold and uranium. When we lived in Denver, he spent a lot of time exploring in Alaska.

I was born in New York because he was working at the Lamont Geological Laboratory to map the ocean floor using sonar. Here's a summary of that project, which involved a woman geologist. Women weren't allowed to work aboard ocean vessels at that time, so guys like my dad (who had been in the navy during WWII) went out on the boats to gather data.

We lived in Americus from 1966 to 1969. In 1970, Sumpter County was the last county in the U.S. to integrate its schools fully.

My father found one of his ancestors buried at Andersonville.

Yep. His name was on record lists all over the field house. The numbers he put up are beyond amazing. His national career rushing record lasted 60 years before it was broken in 2012.

He still has the points per game national record at 32.9... he had one game where he averaged 47.3 yds. Thats per carry, 520 yds on 11 carries
