Yes, I know that D-Day was today, and yes, I know that C.W. McCall sang "It was the dark of the moon, the 6th of June," on his hit "Convoy."
BUT, today is a day in Texas history, because on this day, back in 1955, the Warner Bros. cast and crew began their location shoot in Marfa, TX to produce GIANT, the national movie of Texas.
Here are some home movies of Rock and Elizabeth Taylor on the set of GIANT in 1955, out on the Evans Ranch. It was shot on 8mm film by Bobbie Alexander of Fort Stockton. She graciously loaned it to me to digitize.
It's short, but it is "never before seen" footage.
Enjoy, on the 6th of June.

Love that! I've always liked that movie too. Thanks for posting this

All of my life I have met people out here (in the Trans Pecos) who either visited the GIANT set during the shoot, or have photos and home movies of it.
There is still a lot out there, but you gotta come west of the Pecos to mine it.
One man here in Fort Stockton has WB passes signed by EVERY MEMBER of the GIANT cast. His wife was an extra in the movie as a 7-year-old girl and got all of the stars to sign her Warner Bros passes. He has them all framed.
(I've asked him to keep me in his will.)
