I had one of these. It wasn't my favorite vehicle but I drove several sets of wheels off of it. That was back when diesel was way cheaper than gas. I put over 500,000 miles on it and gave it to an older man that I grew up hunting with over 20 years ago. He is still driving it.

My freshman year in college my parents bought me a 1969 GTO.My father also gave me a Texaco credit card which was a necessity.It was an awesome car.

Nice. I drove a '69 LeMans to Baylor, gold with a white vinyl top. Had just the Chevy 350 short block, but that was plenty. Sold it to a lot on Franklin, they sold it to guy I once saw going down LaSalle with fishing poles out the back window. It ended it's useful life as the base of a KOT homecoming float, FTW. They abandoned it, I got a parking citation. Got out of it but still, Rags...

Have to be my '59 Pontiac station wagon. When I was 17 got it up to 109 mph on Hwy 6. Broke down for good shortly thereafter.

Close 2nd & 3rd are my '91 Saab 9000 (hence my board name) and my '89 Camaro. Both could take a sharp turn without touching the brake.

Bronze 68 'Vette...427/435 HP...3 dueces..No power/No Air..Had a radio, but you couldn't hardly hear it..Put Doug's headers on it..when I opened 'em up..you couldn't hear the co-pilot if they screamed. :-)

Ford Escape is now my favorite one.

Wish I still had my first car, a used '71 Chevelle.

My '08 Prius was pretty fun to drive, liked the technology and challenge of getting the most miles per 8 gallon tank of gas.

My favorite of all is my '07 Shelby GT Mustang. So fun to drive on winding roads. I don't drive it much, has only 12k miles and is one of 509 made in its configuration.

The GTO was a truly classic ride. I can remember when the '64 first hit the market..Awesome car. Don't remember the exact horsepower, but the 389 engine would scream. Just a beautiful automobile!

Went to Ft Worth and bought a new BMW 2002 ($3,995). Didn't know how I was going to pay for it, but driving back to Waco, I knew I'd figure it out.

What a car!

While at Baylor it had to be my 1958 Pontiac Chieftain. 370 V8. No AC. White gangster sidewalls. I think I had 8 or 9 friends in it one Thursday night to Melody Ranch.

It was Coral Red which is a fancy way of saying Pink.

I am not a car guy in the slightest. Had a 1985 BMW M3 at BU in the mid 80s. That thing was fast as hell. I could get to Waco from Dallas in about an hour when I35 had no traffic and few PoPo.

Favorite was a 1977 Toyota Celica GT. One of the few cars I bought new (with an insurance settlement from my previous car getting totaled while parked on BU 5th Street).

My first car was a 63 Chevy Impala--bought used from an older family member in 1968; had the Chevy 357 with 4 barrel carburator.

Lots of speeding tickets earned legitimately in that car, and at 10 mpg gas mileage lots of money spent on gasoline.

Disc Brakes, but all Tesla's have regenerative braking. When you lift your foot from the accelerator, a regeneration of power back to the battery occurs, and the effect is like gearing down in a standard transmission.
So, when you get used to this, you can easily use one pedal all the time (barring emergencies), meaning brake pads could last forever.

So maintenance is limited to tires, cabin air filter, and windshield wiper blades.

Tesla's have about 22 moving parts. ICE vehicles have 3,000 moving parts.

Also the computer that operates the car gets updates over wifi like your phone. The car gets better over time.

It sounds like they are going to have to figure out how to build in obsolescence. 22 moving parts doesn't leave a lot of room to make money for service departments.

True, that's why Tesla opened stores, not dealerships, in big cities. Actually, their sales come from Tesla.com.
You can equip your car as to color, wheels, interior color, etc, and you get the total price, then place an order with $100. They'll let you know when delivery to your house will take place.

Oh, I forgot to say my car came with free supercharging for the life of the car, so no costs for fuel, either.

Oh, and the motor is about the size of a watermelon, and has 420 hp, with over 450 ft lbs of instant torque.
So you needn't worry about pesky Lambos, Ferraris, Mercedes, Dodge Hellcats,. My car will just run away from all of them.
The feeling of that much torque is hypnotic, and tires may be your highest cost.
