Winning by cheating is just as impressive as winning fairly, probably even more so. Your opponent was better than you in every way, and you beat them with your brain.

Sprinkle in some Jimi Hendrix

Btw as footnote on Hendrix's estate. He died with less than $20k but his estate today is worth $175m.

There have been better recordings but probably not a better collection of talent, and that includes some loon named Doug that doesn't even know how to hold a fiddle.

Such a fun recording! A bunch of guys drinking beer and playing music on a hot Texas night. Willie is beloved by everyone, but I think he is underappreciated as a guitarist. I love seeing him get into it at about 2:32. Doug Kershaw on fiddle was always fun too. Leon's had a few beers - explaining what a pirogue is and how it's a boat that you put on a fish to catch a bayou.

Wow… that was fun! It's pretty amazing who all Leon has been on stage with!!! That would certainly hold true for Willie too!!!

Thanks for sharing!!

Leon, in his latter years, would sometimes play at a little bar in Malone. Most of you probably don't even know where Malone is.

Ever stop by The Frog Branch in the 80's and have one with "Red" McGraw?

Good one. Most don't realize version 1 of the Bee Gees was a traditional pop band prior to the 70's R&B

Great Beatles tune and great Beatles moment! Love this.

Possibly my favorite moment from the Beatles documentary that came out a couple of years ago on Disney was watching Paul spontaneously compose this song. You rarely get to see a great tune actually created. Everyone may have seen this by now, but back in 1969 they were making a documentary on the Beatles making an album and they were having trouble getting enough material by their deadline. One morning John was late for rehearsal and the others were killing time waiting for him. Paul starts fiddling around with chords and notes on his guitar and you can see this song just start coming out of Paul's guitar. On the 2021 Disney Beatles documentary my recollection is that there is more material before and after this clip. It's interesting to see George almost falling asleep then realizing Paul is on to something and joining in.

WOW! Lukas does his daddy proud with one of his daddy's favorite songs (so Willie has said)….one of my favorites too! Lukas does it just enough different to make it his….. of course, I don't think Willie has ever done a song the same way twice!

Thanks so much for sharing!

I'll just echo Fat Daddy's Thank You..When you're my age, and love music like I do...to hear your favorite artist's son do one of his songs this well....it just puts a big ole knot in your stomach..Coming to grips with your own mortality ain't the easiest thing to do, but every time I hear this young man singing his Dad's tune ...and hoping he'll continue to perform it for many years....it just makes this old man smile.. and look up...
