That song's lyrics are lyrics to live by. One of my all-time favorites. Jerry Jeff is playing at the HOT Fair in October. Can't wait.

My first love..... just a couple of things kept us from getting married---

I've always thought Rita Coolidge never reached the popularity she should have had .... such a pure voice, but somehow she got sifted to the easy listening genre, and she is easy to listen to! But let's remember, she toured with Joe Cocker and Leon Russell on "Mad Dogs and Englishman".

I also think her cover of Neil Sedaka's "the Hungry Years" is greatness! Such a haunting song ... probably speaks loudest to those over the age of 45-50!

Couldn't find a "great" video of this, so this wil have to do....

Kris Kristofferson and Rita Coolidge --- "Loving Arms" .... looking back and longing for the freedom of my chains....

I'm not sure if this one's been posted before but since it's one of my favorite Beatles tunes, here it is. And it's impossible finding original recordings by them on the internet.

Excited to see Bonnie at The Star on Monday night..... hope she, and the venue, gives us something to talk about!

I heard an interview with Jerry Jeff the other day and he said something along the lines of, "I was a singer-songwriter before I cut Redneck Mother." So true. Jerry Jeff became so well known for his party anthems (Pissin' in the Wind, Sangria Wine, Ray Wylie's Redneck Mother, etc.) that people forget that he has serious song writing chops. I always thought this track was underrated:

Winning by cheating is just as impressive as winning fairly, probably even more so. Your opponent was better than you in every way, and you beat them with your brain.

The words to Mighty Bears of Baylor are:

"Bear Down You Mighty Bears of Baylor

Bear down you green and gold

Show that Baylor Fight

Go with all your might

We will win today for B A Y L O R (Spelled out)

Bear Down You Mighty Bears of Baylor Let's go all the way

Raise your green and gold on high this is Baylor's day!

Then the regular spell out

and back to the song and repeat

Bear dow you Might Bears of Baylor

let's go all the way

Raise your green and gold on high this is Baylor's day!

This song was the main fight song during Coach John Bridger's era. It was written by the Baylor Band Director. Old Fite was also played but with slightly different words (the words you hear on the you tube video we have all seen on this board with the old record player playing Old Fite and the Fred Waring fight song that preceded Old Fite called Bear Down Baylor Bears

Yesterday (August 1) marked the 46th anniversary of George Harrison and Friends at Madison Square Garden with the Concert for Bangladesh. Lots of great artist and great songs... here is George and Leon doing one---
