Can anybody tell me if the United States allowing citizens to fly to Western Europe, specifically London Heathrow, and Capetown, South Africa?

Somewhat helpful. To be more specific, Trump banned Americans from flying directly to Western Europe. Has that been rescinded or are we now allowed to go where we wish?

Again, useful information but doesn't answer my question. Are we allowed by the US to fly to those countries? Presently we can't even visit Canada.

My son is in Denmark for the month of January. He had his flight booked on British Airways but they cancelled due to the outbreak of the UK strain. He was able to get a flight on Scandanavian.

I haven't checked lately, but at one time flights were banned out of Healthrow, so I'd be careful about flying into there.

You can also call a travel agent who knows their business. I recommend Gary Simpson at Simpson Travels. Baylor guy. E-mail: gary@simpsontravels.com

If you wear glasses, have your son get you some fine specs from https://www.ie-glasses.dk/

Pick a pair you'll like, ship them home, then have the prescription filled here. For some odd reason, Scandinavia and Italy have tons of eyewear vendors. Probably tax laws.

Italy is home to Luxotica, the foremost manufacturer of eyewear in the world. They own most all popular brand names. And I mean practically all by saying most.

It's complicated.

Essilor complicated their market but uxxotica owns a lot of the retail brands. The lense business, whether implanted or worn as jewelry should merge into one. The margins are fairly obvious, that $200 pair of glasses costs $3 to make. it's marketing after that.

But the designs often come from small specialty shops, like the one I mention. The italians own so much that it's difficult for the small brands to justify spending money to market what I think are better products but their products are still good nonetheless. But two other brands I thought I'd share.

you can buy the latter here in the US pretty easily, but funkbrillen is new..
