Go to Milo All Day for dinner. Went Friday, was very impressed. The standard opening month or two faux pas with staff are to be expected. Food was great, wine list was small but excellent and well priced, craft cocktails are the best in town. Has some settling down to do, but a very nice open.

On the BBQ front, Guess Family BBQ (food truck that was at Bare Arms Brewing) will be opening a restaurant on 6th near Columbus (across from the jail). Honky Tonk Kid BBQ, another food truck, will be opening a restaurant near Bicycle World on U Parks. Good times.

You are much more forgiving and patient than I am, CB! Went to Milo All Day for lunch and was finally seated in back bench with small side table, facing the kitchen door. Got to watch as each dish came out and was plated and rearranged by barehands by one employee, sat for 15 minutes, then argued over and again fingered up by 5 more employees until they determined where each dish was going. Thought it was highly disorganized and unsanitary. A simple lunch of bread and eggs took 2 hours. I will wait 6 months before returning to see if they both use plastic gloves and have their act together for serving.

I have heard stories about lunch not being so great at Milo. My wife and her business associates had a similar experience. Dinner was much smoother.

I think they may have two concepts going. Sort of a diner type place for breakfast/brunch and the sort of place in the evening where the chef/owner stands at the counter and approves all dishes as they are plated. Steven Matthews was highly evident the evening we were there, came by our table several times and service was prompt though imperfect.

Waco has plenty of eye-talian places, but no Italian places. While Moroso's qualifies as Italian, its limited menu (basically just pizza, although pretty good wood fired pizza), extremely limited wine list and no bar make it not so great.
Exactly. Moroso's is wonderful at what they do, but it's a pizzeria, not a full Italian restaurant. We're regulars there and love it, but I don't consider it a substitute for a real Italian restaurant.

Just got back to Waco this afternoon from two weeks in Sicily with a nice combo of the local restaurants, home cooking with relatives, and cookouts with friends. It's going to be hard to go back to the regular local fare, plus adjust to the prices again. As an example, we had our anniversary dinner at a place we like that has great ambience and a nice view, and had a bottle of Tasca d'Almerita Grillo, Mozia estate, bottled water, a large platter of mixed seafood appetizers (enough for each of to have 16 different items), full entree courses, fabulous dessert, and amaro afterwards plus cover charge for about $75 for the two of us, all-in (there's no tax, there's no/minimal tip).
