Should be fun. Just got a connect to the Houston Oilers. Will add a few from the old Moon/Pastorini days
Man, If the Cowboys and Oilers played at different times, best believe we watched Warren Moon, guy was balling out for a while there.

Never really thought of the Oilers as a rival.

I always cheered for both.
Oilers were my #2 team especially when Don went in the First round to them in 1975

Seems to me that Anthony Hitchens may be in the mix then....definately cheaper. Solid player
Hitch just isn't the athlete he used to be. Wagner is gonna cost way too much $$
Right now we have $17,828,577 over the cap. They may want to keep that to see who drops like a rock in FA plus we have to have funds for the draft picks

Right now we have to sign RB #3 (Corey Clement did a pretty good job last year), DE Brent Urban (can play DT), 1 LB (if Neal isnt onboard at LB), Kicker, 1 WR, 1CB, 1 S, 1 OG, possibly C and possibly Edge.

At #24, I would be okay with a badass LB, Edge or OG or C
Clement is so very average. No way on earth I'm resigning him, even for the vet minimum. Get a guy in the 6th round, like Ebner or someone, who can play ST, catch the ball and run…and on the very cheap.
I thought he ran well when he got a chance. Little bowling ball. Averaged 4.24 per last year. Not bad for a 3rd stringer. With that said, if one pops up in the draft, pick him up. See if Corey can hold onto his position

You from Dallas?

No. Family from Houston. The times I was in Houston everybody there seemed to cheer for the Cowboys and Oilers.
Im glad that was your experience. Ive gotten nothing but intense hatred from the Houstonians since being here. They hate Dallas the city and Dallas the Cowboys.
Winning by cheating is just as impressive as winning fairly, probably even more so. Your opponent was better than you in every way, and you beat them with your brain.

the cap figure is somewhere between $18.6 and $17.8 million, depending on whether you trust Spotrac or OTC more. Neither site includes the contracts for Bryan Anger, James Washington, Luke Gifford, or Carlos Watkins, all of whom are joining or re-joining the roster, and only OTC has updated with Dante Fowler's numbers.

Really starting to like this kid, fearless outside CB. We may have to move up a few spots to get him:

Trent McDuffie, CB, Washington

The Atlantic projects

24. Dallas Cowboys Nakobe Dean, LB, Georgia

Finding help against the run has to be a priority for Dallas. Taking a linebacker in back-to-back first rounds? When one of those linebackers is Micah Parsons and the other is Dean a heat-seeking missile of an inside linebacker and general havoc-causer? Anyone who watched Georgia saw what Dean can give a defense. You tell me: Will Jerry Jones be able to pass on this guy?

I wouldnt be upset, but we passed on Zion Johnson OG. Jameson Williams WR and Tyler Linderbaum OC, and Kenyon Green OG

DLaws deal:

While the younger Jones was ready to accept the fact that Lawrence would be leaving the team, Jerry had other plans for the star edge rusher.

"Jerry was like 'Shoot, D-law has been faithful to us for the last seven-eight years, give him his damn money,'" Lawrence said.

Tank's new three-year deal guaranteed the $30 million that he had been looking for, while also reducing his cap hit to $14 million for the 2022 season allowing the Cowboys to resign other key pieces.

Despite almost losing the face of their defensive line, the Cowboys' philosophy of drafting and developing along with Jerry Jones' goodwill allowed a win-win deal to be made.

"Being able to understand and agree on it [the deal], that was the best news I could ever get," Lawrence said.

Former Cowboys kicker Greg Zuerlein has officially signed with the New York Jets, closing the door on his return to the team this offseason.

The Cowboys released Zuerlein earlier this month after a two-year stint with the team. The move saved the team $2.5 million on the cap but there were internal discussions about bringing back the veteran at a lower cost. In fact, the Cowboys made an offer to Zuerlein, who has decided to sign with the Jets.

Cincinnati corner Ahmad Gardner has been highly productive in his collegiate career and has earned many distinguished honors. In 2021 he was a consensus All-American, earning First Team honors from the Associated Press, AFCA, FWAA and Sporting News. He was the unanimous AAC Defensive Player of the Year, just the second time this has been the case in league history.

Gardner was also a Jim Thorpe Award semifinalist as well as being the first Cincinnati player to earn FWAA All- America honors twice. Why? He has not given up a touch-down in coverage, in his career of 1,000 plus snaps. He only allowed 13 catches for 117 yards allowed this season, according to Pro Football Focus. The accolades are there, but does the film match up for a successful transition to the top of the pro game? If so, then he may be a prime candidate for the Dallas Cowboys.

It would be difficult to argue that the Dallas Cowboys' roster is stronger today than when the season ended on Jan. 16. And owner Jerry Jones is not trying to. The comparison is flawed, he said, as construction on the 53-man roster continues, including a draft class still to come.

"What we've done is gotten better with our money," Jones said. "We are better with our money than we were this time last year. We are better with our money, with our resources. We are in better shape than we were this time last year. Better."

Trading Cooper to the Cleveland Browns and reworking defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence's contract helped buoy the Cowboys' books. Those two transactions alone created $29 million in salary cap space in 2022.
Exactly how much cap room Dallas has currently is unclear. Public websites can speculate, but the NFL Management Council is the only true source, and those figures are considered proprietary, not for general consumption.

Whenever discussing Cooper's departure on Monday, Jones stressed the financial benefits. The move created only $6 million in dead money against the cap. His cap hit would have been $22 million on the roster.
"We took a ton of money out of this club that we've now got," Jones said. "You've got to weigh that. Amari is a great player he's a great player, not a good one. He's one of the top players. ... And we made a decision that that allocation should be better spent."

he Dallas Cowboys continue to have a Randy Gregory sized hole on the defensive line with dwindling available options in free agency. The Athletic's Jon Machota believes that Browns pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney is a name for Cowboys fans to watch. Clowney sits atop Machota's list of the best available free agent fits for Dallas.. He had nine sacks, 11 tackles for loss and 19 quarterback hits in 14 games last season for the Cleveland Browns.

The Dallas Cowboys have had a quiet start to free agency but there is still plenty of talented players available. The Athletic's Sheil Kapadia offered his predictions for where the top remaining free agents will land and has the Cowboys making a run at Bears defensive lineman Akiem Hicks.

"It feels like Dallas is going to add a defensive lineman; it's just a matter of which one," Kapadia wrote on March 23. "They failed to bring back Randy Gregory but still have DeMarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons on the edge. Hicks would give the Cowboys a nice option on the interior. He's 32 and has missed 20 games over the past three seasons due to injuries, but those factors likely will bring his price down. Hicks can still be a very disruptive player."

One of the Dallas Cowboys' former quarterbacks has found a new home and a new contract with the New Orleans Saints.
Earlier in the offseason, former Cowboys quarterback Garrett Gilbert joined the Las Vegas Raiders on a new deal. Back in 2020, Gilbert was a stop-gap QB that season after an injury befell starting quarterback Dak Prescott in Week 5.
However, Dallas fans know that Andy Dalton was the first quarterback the front office brought in to back up for Dak. That being said, Dalton battled his own injury issues that season didn't impress when he was playing.

Finally:

The NFL is changing its sometimes controversial overtime rules to guarantee each side gets the ball in the playoffs.

Concerned that the coin toss to begin the extra period has too much impact on postseason game results, the owners voted Tuesday to approve a proposal presented by the Colts and Eagles.

Beginning this season, if the team possessing the ball first in overtime scores a touchdown on that series, the opponent still gets a possession. In recent seasons, that touchdown would have ended the game.

The Titans had recommended that both teams possess the ball in overtime unless the team receiving the kickoff scores a touchdown and a 2-point conversion. That would end the game. Under previous rules, the 10-minute overtime in the regular season only continued if the team getting the ball first failed to score or kicked a field goal. Should the side receiving the kickoff make a field goal, the team that first played defense would get a possession in which it can score a touchdown and win, or kick a field goal and play would continue if time allowed.

Under previous rules, the 10-minute overtime in the regular season only continued if the team getting the ball first failed to score or kicked a field goal. The owners did not go with the TItans suggestion

The Cowboys were always hopeful that wide receiver Michael Gallup would be fully recovered from his ACL tear in time to suit up for the 2022 season opener.

They're still hopeful, but they're also realistic in tempering expectations.

"Optimistically, I expect him to give us a question mark around the first game," team owner Jerry Jones told reporters this week at the annual league meetings in Florida.

That question mark may even extend to multiple games to start the season.

The timetable was always going to be tight. The four-year veteran felt a "pop" as he landed while making a twisting catch on January 2 in the Cowboys' Week 17 game versus Arizona. The touchdown grab proved to be Gallup's final play of the season, as MRI results showed a clean tear of the ligament in his left knee.

Steven Jones explained why "it didn't work out" in adding Wagner to the defense and reuniting him with Dan Quinn, who coached the eight-time Pro Bowl linebacker in Seattle.

"Obviously Dan's had a history with Bobby knows him well," Jones said. "But it was one of those situations where you look into it great football player, Hall of Fame football player. But as it turned out, it didn't work out with us."

Wagner, who serves as his own agent, is reportedly looking for a deal in the neighborhood of $11 million a season. As of Tuesday, he was linked to having mutual interest in signing with the Ravens and Rams.

Wagner has played his entire 10-year career with the Seahawks, including two seasons under Quinn as the DC.

He was recently waived by Seattle for salary-cap reasons.

When asked about the linebacker position for his own team, Jones said he's not as concerned with the depth, that currently includes Micah Parsons, Leighton Vander Esch, Luke Gifford and Jabril Cox.

"We'll feel good about it. As you know, some people in the building consider (safety) Jayron Kearse a linebacker," Jones said. "We don't need as many backers as we used to because we play that hybrid style with our safeties there. But, we're not heavy with numbers. Certainly we can do better there but I wouldn't say it's a huge priority before the draft."

24. DALLAS COWBOYS: OT BERNHARD RAIMANN, CENTRAL MICHIGAN
Big Board Rank: 13
Profile: 6'6", 303 | Age: 24 (September 23, 1997)
One of the biggest risers following the 2021 college football season, Raimann earned a 94.6 overall grade, 88.7 pass-blocking grade and 94.6 run-blocking grade with Central Michigan this year. He didn't earn a PFF grade above 75.1 in any season prior. Expect his 2021 campaign and a strong Senior Bowl to vault him into the first round.
If there is an offensive tackle available that they think could be a cornerstone for the future, they could go that way with Tyron Smith's career winding down and Steele still trying to prove himself.

A lot of mocks I have been running seem to have Raimann, Johnson, and Green all available to us and now some have Linderbaum as well. In other words, I think we have a great opportunity to trade down a little bit and still get a desired interior OL.
