With Rodgers and Carr moving teams, that makes Dak Prescott the longest tenured starting QB with his current team.

Anyone else on who they want in the early rounds? Position? Particular player?

Dallas Cowboys released three players just days before the start of the 2023 NFL draft. Dallas waived tight end Ian Bunting, cornerback Isaac Taylor-Stuart and linebacker Devante Bond with failed physical designations, per the NFL transaction wire.

Yahoo Sports has us taking 6'3, 337 lb DL Mazi Smith in the first. Dont know much about this kid but the next two picks were OG Torrance and TE Mayer. Dont see us passing either one of those

Defense. Might cut down on some losses if the other team can't score on us.
Winning by cheating is just as impressive as winning fairly, probably even more so. Your opponent was better than you in every way, and you beat them with your brain.

From what I've heard, Bijan, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Darnell Wright are 3 of the guys we want most, but they'll almost for sure be gone by 26 and I highly doubt we trade up. I've also heard Michael Mayer, Will McDonald, Mazi Smith, Steve Avila, or a trade down. I'd honestly be fine with any of these options.

The one that can help us most next season is probably Bijan. although I hear Jaymar Gibbs is running a close second in the RB category and might do the same. Would allow us to let Pollard go next season if we have to. Avila is interesting although I think he is a second rounder.

I didn't see Bijan catch at the combine. Believe it when I see it.

Bijan is a really good receiver. Good enough that you could line him up in the slot.

Agree on Avila. I think we could trade back to the top of the 2nd. Houston has the 2nd 2nd rounder and lots of other picks. We could make it work

I've read that too. wish I could remember what he did in games receiving against us. The only thing I can seem to remember is him swinging out off the backfield and taking one upfield

So many projections have Bijan going to the Eagles at 10. That would be horrendous!

No way he goes that high. 19 to the Bucs is my guess if a QB isn't there.

btw - what if Darnell Wright, the big OT from Tennessee drops into our laps? He could play OG for a season then got to R OT if Steele is let go

Eagles are pretty loaded. Since they dont have a premier RB, they may pull the trigger on Bijan. Would be very tough to defense that team.

Agree on the Bucs at 19. Very probable if he drops to them

Stephen Jones on drafting a RB like Bijan at 26:

"If you happen to see a back there at the bottom of the first that's rare and unique and he falls because he's a running back? I'd have to think we'd be considering it," Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones said. "Especially if we thought he should have been picked in the top half of the draft, but maybe because he is a running back, he's fallen a little bit. And obviously a lot of these backs can come into the NFL and play right away and play at a high level right away.

"Zeke proved it. Emmitt [Smith]. We've been fortunate enough to have backs like that."

BTW - who do you like to compete for the 2 and 3 QB spot? Clayton Tune and Max Duggan are a couple of prominent names. Probably 5th or 6th rounders at this point, maybe even 7th or UFA for Duggan as hes kinda small

Surprised they wouldn't try to trade him first before declining his option.

Stephen Jones;

Quote:

"Matt's having a great offseason. He obviously had the surgery, so he's knocking it out of the park there. And Josh, I think, clearly, will work more inside than out. He does a tremendous job in the offseason program, things like that. I'm excited to see those guys play in the preseason. They're ready. We've just got to get them battle-tested. They're making all the progress you look for in his your second- or third-[year] players. They're right on schedule."
