It shouldn't surprise anyone if the NFC wild-card playoff game between the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears on Saturday night, Jan. 10, at Soldier Field in Chicago goes right down to the wire.

Both regular-season games between the teams were close finishes.

The Packers won, 28-21, at Lambeau Field on Dec. 7 as cornerback Keisean Nixon's interception in the end zone late in the game secured the victory. Less than two weeks later, the Bears prevailed, 22-16, in overtime at Soldier Field when the Packers squandered a late lead and misfielded an onside kick.

Oddsmakers predict a close game, with the Packers as a slight favorite. The weather could be a significant factor, too, as the forecast expects wind gusts between 20 and 30 mph in overall blustery conditions.

With all of that as well as the teams in the NFL's oldest rivalry generally disliking each other

Dallas Cowboys cornerback DaRon Bland underwent successful surgery on his left foot in Indianapolis, the team announced Tuesday on its website.

Bland's procedure was done by Dr. David Porter, an orthopedic team physician for the Indianapolis Colts. The surgery was meant to repair the fifth metatarsal bone in Bland's foot.

Bland notably injured the same bone ahead of the 2024 season. That injury cost him the first 10 games of the year. He dealt with foot problems numerous times during the 2025 season but played through them until he was placed on injured reserve in December.

The cornerback finished the 2025 campaign with 73 total tackles, six pass deflections, three tackles for loss and an interception. His lone interception, a 68-yard pick-six, came in an Oct. 19 win over the Washington Commanders.

John Harbaugh wasn't looking for a new job for long. According to multiple reports, Harbaugh and the Giants are finalizing a deal that would make him the franchise's next head coach.

ESPN's Jordan Raanan was first to report late Wednesday night that Harbaugh was expected to reach a deal with the Giants "barring any setbacks." NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported early Thursday morning that Harbaugh had accepted the job and that the two sides were finalizing a five-year contract that would make him "one of the NFL's highest-paid coaches."
