The Baylor Bears (1-1) return home with a non-conference game against Texas State (1-1) at McLane Stadium on Saturday morning. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. CT and will be aired live on FS1.
"After a loss, there's two things a team can do: just wilt away or just come together and rebound stronger." For Neal, the formula for a rebound is simple. This team just needs to come together, humble themselves, put their heads down and get back to work with a focus.
Junior Linebacker Matt Jones
"I take a lot of pride in our front seven. I know our run game, line us up against anyone in the nation, I have full confidence they won't be able to rush on our front seven at all."
Head Coach Dave Aranda
"There's a quote by Robert Frost where he says, 'the best way out is always through.' And I think that along with the best criticism of the bad is the practice of the better. So, it's like, let's be honest about what just happened. And, it's hard to talk about because everyone attaches their manhood and their ego to all of it."
Analysis of the Week
SicEm365 Analyst Travis Roeder
Baylor’s defense has been light on turnovers thus far this season, especially compared to last year. Against Albany, they understandably held back a lot of their pressures and played a rather static defense. Against BYU, they eschewed blitzes so that they could play sound against the run game and keep two safeties back against the pass.
This is the game where I fully expect Baylor to get 2+ turnovers. If they do not, I think there will be reasonable cause for concern. Texas State had four turnovers against Nevada, and while they only had one against FIU.
TX State is wearing our D down instead of the other way around. Missed tackles, no pass rush, etc. Starting to get a 2020 type feeling for this season.
Maybe we should think just a tad more about player vs person. An off season of character development and navel gazing seems to not be paying the dividends we hoped.
Our WR routes are so ugly. They run into the defender and just stutter losing all momentum. They are not getting much of any separation against txstate.
I isn't playing good. Blake Shapen with that keeper is playing good)
Our offense just score. But it lifeless, no snap and struggling to do anything well. Every Big 12 team will eat it up if it does not change. They play like they have nothing to play for
Why isn't Armani Winfield playing? We need a stand out wr and he was our top recruit. Is he really not ready?
I would have to think he isn't. You're looking at what we're trotting out there right now, and if he can't make the rotation over this [gestures broadly]...
