The Baylor Bears (6-3) are back home after back-to-back road victories to face No. 19 Kansas State (6-3) in a Saturday evening matchup in Waco. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CT and will be aired live on FS1.
"I think everything falls behind our offensive line. They're a bunch of veteran guys, they've kind of been through it. They're mature and understand what it takes to get the job done," Shapen said glowingly. "I think us being able to follow their lead … is a huge key in that happening."
Fresham Receiver Josh Cameron
"I'd say it's really high to be honest," Cameron said when asked about the team's confidence levels. "Even in practice today, the energy levels, they were probably the highest it's been ever, this whole season."
Head Coach Dave Aranda
"I don't really bring that up. I have to imagine that all of our guys know that. I just think, whether it is the beginning of the year and feeling pretty full of ourselves when we really hadn't accomplished anything. Or it's in the year, having a win and then feeling pretty full of ourselves after one win. And so, we have a pretty voracious appetite for just good things about us, you know. And so I think to keep the focus just on what's right in front of us, and what we have to do today … I think that has been what we have been doing these last couple of weeks. And so we're hoping to continue to do that."
Analysis of the Week
SicEm365 Analyst Travis Roeder
This is a knock-down, drag-out game. Kansas State is going to make Baylor earn it. Something you have to feel great about is that Baylor faced the best defense in the conference earlier this year on the road and were able to put up 34 points with relative ease.
Just as Baylor’s offense is improving week to week, I think KSU’s defense is equally improving. These are two of the better overall units in the entire conference going head to head. It’s a magnificent matchup from a pure quality standpoint.
Ultimately, my expectations are that Baylor gets into that 27-34 point range but that it’s a real slog. I do not expect many spurts of massive offense in this game. It’s more likely that Baylor averages a TD per quarter; that’s my read, anyway.
Just not ready to play. Offense or defense. These are the worst types of games. I didn't see this coming at all. Outside of the 2020 Covid year we haven't seen this type of game since 2018.
Crazy season. If you told me we had road wins vs tech, ou and Iowa st I'd be really pumped.
On to tcu. I think we bounce back and play very well next week.
Start Drones the final 2 games and see what he has. Find out if you need to go to the portal in the Spring in case Novosad isn't ready his first year since most true frosh aren't.
I agree completely. I'm not ready to lose Drones to the portal based on what I've seen from Shapen this season.
And after a game like this, you have no choice but to go back to the drawing board.
Game over. Finally some throws down field. When there is no chance of a comeback.
At least the flyover looked like it was cool. They flew over my house about 6 times before the game in their holding pattern. What type of planes were they?
People really think Aranda is gonna pull Blake? He's his golden boy. Aranda convinced himself Blake was the missing piece to unlocking our offenses full potential and boy o boy did he whiff miserably
Next year is going to be interesting, Dave won a ton of game last year with Rhules recruits. Next years squad will be almost entirely his recruits and right now they're leaving a lot to be desired
We may not roll over but it won't matter. TCU is a much much better team than BU it's likely to resemble the 2016 game maybe worse
I very much doubt it. TCU doesn't blow out opponents very often and we don't typically get blown out (tonight's game notwithstanding). I don't have any confidence that we'll beat TCU, but it will be much closer than you think.
