RGIII used to really credit him as his QB coach…he actually taught him things he did not know before college..just mentioning it.
For what? Kittley is a super bright young OC. They're not going to be replacing him anytime soon IMO.BellCountyBear said:
I wonder if Joey has already reached out to him?

Tulsa is stupid to fire Montgomery IMO. He's kept that program at a competitive and respectable level through some ups and downs. The odds of Tulsa getting someone significantly better or more loyal to that program are pretty slim.
That's an interesting thought. I don't know if Texas State is interested in dealing with the backlash for a guy who will be 67 next week, though.LIB,MR BEARS said:
Texas State should hire Briles and he should bring Monty with him as OC. After a couple years they'd smoke a lot of teams.
Montgomery is one of only four coaches in Tulsa's history that has ever had a Year 8, and none of those have come in this century.PartyBear said:bear2be2 said:

Somewhat agree on the other hand he has been there 8 years and had 3 winning seasons. His year 8 was 5-7. So I can see how they think they need something new from their stand point.
IDK about that. Monty was there a long time and had a 10 win season in 2016 but his next best season was 7-6 last year. He had a lot of bad seasons other than that. He was there since 2015 so its not like he didnt get a shot. Tulsa just wants to get to SMU level which should be doable. I dont know who they will hire but they will probably go back to trying to get an up and comer that will get them to pretty good then bail for a p5 after 3 seasons but thats about all they can hope for.bear2be2 said:

Monty was very mediocre there outside of one season.
There really aren't that many fanbases out there that are just going to be like, "well, we're Tulsa, we should just be happy going 5-7 and maybe having one pretty good season here and there." People want to win, lol
This. Tulsa is a tiny university that is overachieving simply by fielding Division I programs.CorsicanaBear said:
You said "Tulsa" and "Fanbase" in the same sentence. They don't have a fanbase. They are a very small (smallest in the FBS, less than a third the size of SMU and smaller than the service academies) rich, liberal school in a very middle class conservative town, where everyone is either an OU or OSU fan. I have a buddy who grew up in Dallas and was a linebacker at Tulsa during the late 70's. You have to pull it out of him that he played there. He pulls for OSU.
By the way, I like Tulsa. Seems like a very livable town with nice folks.

We could use him at Baylor. We haven't had QB development since Briles left.

The firing caught me 100% surprised. Tulsa looked awesome running over UH Saturday night. That QB is a monster.
I seriously doubt Tulsa will find anyone better as that is the smallest University in terms of athletics G5
I'd hope we could get some help from their receivers and QB in the portal

Tulsa is a fantastic city...a larger version of what Waco should aspire to .
I went for the first time when we played our 1st round against NM State and USC a few years ago. Fell in love with the city.
He did indeed. He started for three years there and had a good, solid career.PartyBear said:
He played for Tulsa after originally signing with Texas over Baylor as I recall.
BREAKING: Ohio State Offensive Coordinator/Tight Ends Coach Kevin Wilson has agreed to become the next Head Coach at Tulsa.

Wilson had a great 9 season run at OU from 2002-10, before becoming the Head Coach at Indiana & then OC at tOSU.
I expect him to be introduced tomorrow. pic.twitter.com/qGJz11TUws
