Whether he actually reads blog posts or not, I've no doubt that Blake Shapen is well-aware of the sharp criticisms being loudly voiced about him.

From his best games we've seen that he has tools. From his worst games we've seen that he lacks consistency and has made some big mistakes.

Will he let the negatives dominate his thoughts? Or will he rise to the occasion and use these things (with proper help) to improve.

I want to hope for the best, and that against Air Force and all of his future games we see a determined, dynamic, smart and sharp QB on the field for Baylor.

Sic 'em, Shapen!

I've been thinking I'm sure he hears the doubts and probably knows the disappointment in the fan base over whiffing on Novosad.

I thought it might give him a little extra motivation to show what he can do.....but I'm afraid the conditions are gonna be so bad tonight he's going to be really limited.

But....big picture....I'm certainly hoping he takes some big steps forward in the Spring and Fall. He should have a nice new target in Ketron that should help.

Unfortunately under these weather conditions, we will not be able to fairly judge Shapen's performance tonight.

It is possible for a young QB to really improve, Duggan is a fine example of who was able to do that over his career. Hopefully Shapen shows some of that improvement next year.

A new staff did it for Duggan.

The only way for this kid to have a future is for him to have a Rocky 4 type of training camp in the spring. He needs to be watching film, practicing footwork, working through his throws and reads, and find a competent QB guru who can walk him through what I just listed. He needs to do all of these things from dusk till dawn damn near every day until September bc what I have seen from him this year wouldn't cut it at Mary Hardin Baylor.

King at UMHB was a stud....

Game plan tonight was awful to boot as well...

Shapen wouldn't start at UMHB.

Struggled through the good and bad with Charlie, looks like we're gonna have to do the same with Shapen. Only two more years folks, then the next man up replaces Blake.
