In a way, I'm glad baylor did not make the playoffs in 2019 or 2021. We were not prepared for that kind of competition and almost certainly would have experienced a humiliating defeat, perhaps comparable to TCU's. It was enough to play for a conference championship in 2019 and win one in 2021, especially when considering how dramatic it was.

In time, Baylor will be better prepared & get into the playoffs. We will have a chance to win the semifinal and at least make a respectable showing in the final game. I still believe Aranda may be able to get us there and I can be patient. I also prefer to do it with class and a positive style. Patience & faith can payoff well it will be sweeter because of the wait. Look how long Scott Drew persevered.

I also realize we may never win a natty in football. Few teams are ever able to compete on that level & the deck is largely stacked against small, private schools like Baylor. There are more important things in life.

They probably spent 100-200 per point their team scored to get into the game.

Can't disagree. CFB is a distraction. Fun to talk about, or at least used to be before the *******s made it serious. But it really means very little unless it is your livelihood, and those people don't post on message boards if they want it to continue to be their livelihood!

I know this happens every year with some program (somewhat happened with us last year), but TCU having so many starters (and really all the important ones) leaving but still top 15 makes me crazy. And even then, they needed near miracles in several games to win

Because of the way we were playing D at the end of 2021, I seriously doubt we would've experienced anything close to the level of this year's TCU disaster had we made the CFP. We were good enough defensively in 2019 as well to most likely avoid a completely humiliating blowout had we made it that season. I agree we didn't have the offensive horses to actually get it done in either season, but I believe we wouldn't have humiliated ourselves and our conference - if nothing else because of our D.

Saban is the most accurate ... although I think Ohio State would destroy TCU.

Bama at 2? They lost to Tennessee and LSU. TCU could hang with Bama on the field. Ohio St caught UGA napping and took advantage until some bad luck. TCU could hang points on Bama and Ohio St. Neither has a good defense. Ohio St can't stop the run and Bama was torched through the air more than just Tennessee.

Kirby has a much better ranking. Tennessee beat Bama and TCU beat Big10 champ Michigan. I'd be fine if he put OSU at 2 though and toad at 3. Head to head has to matter at some point.

We would've been the 4 seed both years had we gone in 19 or 21. 19 LSU would've made us look like TCU against UGA. We lost to OU twice and they got railed by LSU. 21 I think we could've competed well with Michigan similar to TCU but would've been low scoring. However we would've played Alabama with a better receiving corps and secondary than they have this year. Would've looked about like Cincinnati.

Fair ... but the closest data point was Alabama obliterated K-State, who beat TCU.

OSU looked good against Georgia ... definitely hard to reconcile the loss to Michigan after the CFP ... unless you believe (like I do) that Michigan overlooked TCU for OSU and got some bad calls.

We were a play away in each game from beating a Jalen Hurts led OU team twice in '19 and I'm guessing we would've fared about the same against Joe Burrough's LSU team - which was a blowout - but nothing of the magnitude of what Georgia did to TCU. In '21 it's very possible we would've looked comparable to Cincinnati against Bama, which would've been a solid defeat, but once again, not a you don't even belong on the same field type catastrophe. Anyway, the point is I believe because of our D (especially in '21) we would've at least not totally been destroyed from start to finish like the frogs.

To counter your first point- Michigan clobbered Ohio St and TCU beat Michigan, therefore TCU is better than Ohio St. That game can be played all day. TCU OSU would probably be a pretty good matchup.

Matchups matter. Ohio St struggles against physical teams and that's really the only thing Michigan has going for it. TCU proved its willing to meet physical with physical.

The SEC is a league above everyone else. UGA pounded Michigan last year. Bama pummeled a solid Cincy. Tennessee clocked Clemson in the Orange Bowl this year and Bama pushed aside a well coached K-State. UGA is the new Bama. No one was beating them championship night. A rematch against Ohio St would've been ugly for the buckeyes. They had their shot like Missouri and the luck ran out. Ohio St is a really good team but UGA at their best is on another planet.

It is shameless just as Bama's under Saban, yet no one ever questioned Bama as the best team up until the past couple of years when UGA has taken over.

UGA did wreck Oregon in their opener this year, so credit to that.

Living in the southeast, I've always liked Georgia and had respect for them, but now, with a kid there, I am a big fan and thoroughly enjoyed the game Monday night. She's a freshman and probably just assumes Georgia will win forever.

Good point. It's certainly nice to think we would have done reasonably well. But we'll never know because it didn't happen. Also, in the one game against a common opponent, TCU, we did terribly.

K State also obliterated Baylor. We were lucky to get a FG to avoid a home shut out.

Grew up in the Southeast as a big Tennessee fan and couldn't stand UGA fans, liked Richt though. Fast forward some years and my sister went to UGA and married an UGA guy and also find myself cheering for them sometimes. Minus Baylor or Tennessee. Athens might be the greatest college town in America. It's not hard to see why everyone who goes there loves it.

Happens every year like you said. They did have a lot of close games, but you have to give them credit for pulling them out. We had a lot of close games as well and just couldn't finish them. A lot of times that is the difference between a 10 win season, and a six win season.

I agree, I fell in love with the place when I visited with my daughter last spring. I had never been there before.

A grew up a Vandy fan (my dad went there too) and went to all of their football and basketball games. I initially hated Tennessee, but I have really grown to like them.… Plus, Vandy's administration is intolerable.

Congrats to your daughter for getting in. No easy feat these days. Would recommend Creature Comforts Brewery for an evening or afternoon activity and Pauley's for a fun lunch. Of course a game at Sanford Stadium if you haven't been.

Quasi Vandy myself being from Nashville. Their admin is a whole other topic.

I still live in the area although I saw the light and moved to Franklin many years ago. I'll definitely ask my daughter about those places you mentioned and maybe check them out on our next visit.
