Dillon Doyle Named to National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society
WACO, Texas -- Baylor senior linebacker/fullback Dillon Doyle was named to the 2023 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society, it was announced by the NFF & College Hall of Fame on Wednesday.
A senior two-way player, Doyle sports a 3.97 GPA as a graduate student working towards his master’s in business administration. He was named the 2022 Big 12 Football Scholar Athlete of the Year in a voting of the league’s coaches, the first such honor for a Baylor player since Nick Florence in 2012.
He was named a first-team Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators, formerly the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA). He was the ninth all-time first-team selection in program history and the first first-team honoree for the Bears since 2015.
Doyle, a native of Iowa City, Iowa, completed his playing career in 2022 while helping lead the Bears to a second consecutive bowl berth. He is a two-time second-team All-Big 12 honoree in 2022, becoming the first player in league and program history to earn first or second team All-Big 12 honors at both an offensive and defensive position (linebacker and fullback). A 6-foot-3, 240-pounder, Doyle led the Bears with 90 tackles in 2022 and totaled 261 stops in his five-year career, which began with a pair of seasons at Iowa (2018-19).
The NFF Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of the NCAA, NAIA and sprint football who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers. An elite group of 1,734 players from 328 schools qualified for membership in 2023, setting a record for the number of members in a single year during the program’s 17‐year history.
Nominated by their respective schools, members of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society must be either:
- A senior player, who will graduate this spring/summer, and just completed his final year of playing eligibility in 2022; or
- A graduated player, who has been out of high school at least (3) years; And must have:
- Attained a minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.2 (4.0 scale); and
- Been starters or significant contributors throughout the 2022 season.
