For years I've read criticisms of the NCAA. It wouldn't surprise me if eventually 3 or 4 'super conferences' do evolve, and they look at each other and say, 'We control 85% of all college sports; let's disengage from the NCAA and come up with our own overseer'.

I say it ends up at 3/20 team conferences. Why? Because 2 will cut out too much of the Nation and with the money we are talking, NIL, and Title 9 issues, last thing the "money schools" want is the Government getting involved.

So, I believe we will have 3 and right now it looks like the B12 is firmly in position to be that 3rd Conference. The ACC GOR is giving the B12 a 10 year head start to cement the conference as #3.

One of the main reasons that I have always preferred college football over the NFL is the more amateur and less corporate feel of it all.

I know there has always been a dirty business money side to college football.... but now that it's all done above the table it kind of diminishes that "amateur for the love of the game" feel that used to be there.

I will still be a fan but I wish things were not turning in this direction.

(FWIW....I have no problem with players getting paid....it's just brought with it a lot of corporate interests)

That's just weird. Is he crapping on half his conference for the sake of keeping a 4 team PAC? Or is it that four teams WITHOUT him are talking to another conference?

The Big 10 leak a day after a deal that isn’t good enough is presented. The game has begun. If you’re Oregon and Washington, don’t you now want the four corners to leave? This is a nightmare for Kliavkoff.

Who is taking them? B10? SEC? Those are the only games in town. If B10 was skeptical of Oregon and Washington, Utah will not be a draw.

SEC? They have shown NO interest in going beyond Texas, not when they have FSU, Clemson, and Miami waiting.

MWC? AAC? Why?

5 or 6 years ago I would not have been expecting to see the B12 emerge as the #3 best/most stable P5 conference.

I think he was trying to show how weak Kliavkoff is now after presenting the media offers and that half the conference is looking for lifeboats.

When the dust settles, 2024 increasingly looks like this outcome:

Arizona, Arizona St, Colorado, Utah join Big 12

Oregon, Washington join Big Ten

Sources: Arizona is now a "hard lean" to join the Big 12. Scheduled to be in executive session at the moment. No word on ASU. Also, economic hangup re Washington which has figured it needs about $10 million annually to cover travel. That would impact revenue share signficantly.
