We could replace stonewall with the band director. At least he will have moves on the sidelines and twirl the baton around. Could be O signals. Saving big bucks too.

I'm honestly starting to get into the "anybody but Dave" camp. Local high school coach. A homeless guy. The animatronic mouse at Chuck E. Cheese. Anybody

Perhaps the greatest indicator that your team isn't doing well, is when after the very first game.......there's already a thread about head coaching candidates.

I had a good chuckle at this. I'm sorry, it's funny in a painful, ironic sense. It's soooo not a good sign, LOL.
Losing 4 in a row to finish last season and then getting shoved around by tx st to start this year is all I needed to see to know that we have the wrong staff in place.

i completely agree, baylor has to make a decision

i would personally go with a guy who already has proven success leading a program not a guy like aranda who has never led a program

We need to pivot from embracing the suck to re-embracing our identity as a stepping stone. Nick Saban or Jesus ain't coming to coach Baylor. Nor is anybody else who is above average. So get that through our thick skulls and look for that up and coming G5 coach with STRONG Texas ties. We need to get back to what made us better in the early 2010s -- pissed off 2 and 3 star players who want to be coached up. And yes, we will probably lose that coach, but at least there might be something resembling a foundation for the next guy. Winning seems an eternity away, but let's at least begin a realistic rebuild.

Yup. We are not getting a Coach whose presence recruits. Aranda is not leveraging our weakness to power, the guy needs to go back to being a DC at a school with a surplus of talent. We need people with experience winning with limited resources. Herman, Fleck, Leach (RIP), etc

Agreed. Need a boost of positivity into the program. I have a bad feeling its going to be an exodus of players into the portal (especially the few we do not want to leave). Time to bring some energy and a new voice

I am really starting to believe that you need someone, at a program like Baylor, like L,each at Tech or Rodriguez at WVU that changes the way we approach the game. Broyles did that, too. Otherwise, we will always be at a talent deficit and it is going to get worse as NIL becomes more entrenched. Guys like Aranda are not the answer. Have to shift the paradigm.

Yup. Remember a Camp at WVU I attended when coaching middle school. Rich Rodeiguez was asked why he ran the 335 and zone-read. His answer was that WVU couldn't recruit against the Blue Bloods consistently. Running off-systems allowed them to find tweener athletes that would attend WVU and could compete in the right system. The other thing he said was that Coaching BCS (at the time) football was no different than coaching middle school, they teach the same things. Just faster, more precise and less margin of error. Really was a great camp. Never understood him leaving, he was a perfect fit for WVU. My son still follows WVU even though he is an Aggie, he was 10 when he attended.

I agree 100% with him. We can't recruit against A&M, UT and the SEC consistently. Need to find a system that is Baylor.

Chadwell runs a distinct offense. Very unique. We offer a playoff path that Liberty does not.

I want to see the next hire be creative and try to find a way to go to the Playoff, not just be LSU/Wisky Lite or BYU Lite.

Don't we all? I think Chadwell could bring in his option offense and by year 3 have us looking for a playoff spot. Granted I heard he bombed his interview with South Carolina, and he comes across as a Tennessee redneck, which some board members may not like. As a bit of a Tennessee redneck myself I'm all for it. He's won as a HC at DII, FCS, and FBS. All stops have been teams without much history of success. His Coastal teams were fun to watch.

Don't mean to be Cpt Obvious (Football Board version). But I am sick of hearing from the talking heads, we need a Matt Rhule pro, 3 yard cloud of dust guy. NIL changed that. We will not be able to get the linemen necessary to run those traditional systems. Leach had it right, need to break the mold when you are not OU or Bama.

Look around you. We're staring at a likely 3-9 finish with 1 win over an FCS team nobody knew existed and 2 wins against G5 talent playing their first year of P4 football. We're already at 2004, and we're heading towards 1999.

If we continue to blow off NIL and Rhoades is in charge of the next coaching change I would agree we are headed back to 1999.

For those of you who really don't know we right now are not close to 99 levels. Just for perspective a team like that UH team yesterday would have beat us in the neighborhood of 42-7 in 99. So yes bad management can actually make this a lot worse and it is much easier for them to make it much worse than make it better unfortunately.

Again take it from a guy who has lived through this before. Trust me you don't want to experience it and I refuse to experience it again in the way I did the last time.

Barely, and we're already as bad as most of the years you cited. 1 win or 3, though, aren't materially different. You win 6+ or you don't and it's a failure. 1 win, 3 wins, 4 wins, whatever. They're all the same thing.

Sure, results can be worse but the W/L can't be much worse and that will lead to the beatings you're referencing will occur in short order with this record. Especially when every player can just up and leave.

Those days it was a lack of talent. Can't remember ever hearing a Coach lost the locker room like Aranda said. Maybe I misread or misinterpreted, but if true that right there is enough for a change as talent is not 3 win level.

if mack goes and hires another coordinator with no hc experience i will get a group together to fly a banner around waco and it will not say something nice

First what does BU want to do? If you go young and from a lower program, there will be a learning curve. Rhule was experienced and did that curve at Temple. I think it has to be someone that can hit the ground running. The next 6 years will be important to be decent. Not the time to grow with new Coach learning P5 game.

I don't think NIL changed that. We've never been signing linemen like an UGA or Ohio St. Maybe it made it harder? But one of the Barrington bros was a 4* transfer and George Maile was a borderline 4* signing. Our recruiting rankings have been on par since NIL, which means we aren't developing, aren't properly identifying, or both.

You really think he is calling the shots at KSU? You don't think the "Bill Snyder" way is the way KSU rolls, period. Snyder was so anal he picked the brand butter on meals for flights and set the route for the buses to drive. You think he doesn't have any say. KSU is like Wisky, nothing happens in Madison without Alverez's blessing.
