We can talk about Chadwell's boss and all of the politics, but the real truth of the matter is that he's got a better gig at liberty. He gets paid like a P4head coach (in the ballpark of what Dave is making) with an easier schedule. He can bide his time and choose any job he wants.

JAMEY CHADWELL

Remember who Jamey Chadwell's boss is? I'm sure in casual conversation Jamey has heard about the 2016 dumpster fire and how BOR handled it. I don't think he'll be interested in coming to BU.

Perhaps. However, it was a very open and public dumpster fire that everyone heard about, including Rhule and Aranda and that did not stop either from coming.

Jimmy Rogers at South Dakota State is one that I would look at. Young up-and-coming coach. Went into Stillwater a couple weeks ago and kept things a lot more respectable than you would expect for an FCS team. Won the FCS championship last year and off to a hot start this year.

Sumrall is not happy with Tulane right now. He was promised new weight room, locker room, and an indoor practice field. Plans for the practice facility were just scrapped and the administration is going back to the drawing board. They have no space to fit one on campus, very little open area.

He seems to be a solid coach, they took K State to the wire and gave OU a good game. Both were tighter than the score reflects.

Maybe that is why Fritz took the money (UH) and ran

Great call. I posted the same suggestion a couple of weeks ago. He's aggressive, has produced really solid results and can recruit. He'd be a refreshing change as a younger coach.

If we couldn't get Traylor, I'd like to see GJ Kinne get the nod.

Traylor is 2-3 in wait for it. His 5th year. Kinne is 2-2 right now and is actually just barely above .500 at TcSt.

The guy at Tulane is in his 3rd year as HC. He is 3-2 at Tulane inheriting a program that lost 4 games over the previous 2 seasons.

Is Traylor coming off a 3-9 season? What about Kinne? What about Sumrall ?

Traylor is 41-17 as a head coach. He could coach circles around Dave, and I would be happy with him. If he were 5-0 right now, people would be saying "oh it's pointless because he'll have way better offers blah blah blah" and they would probably be right. Yes, everyone wants Jamie Chadwell but he's not coming here

Chadwell is who I want. BU would be absolutely ******ed if they didn't at least reach out. He's the best G5 coach and it's not particularly close

The resident Puritans on this board have told us that Kinne is a no-go because of some clandestine personal reason

Yeah I'd go streaking if they hired him. I have no faith in this current administration to aim for the stars, And I'm not sure why Chadwell would want to come here TBH. He makes a lot of money at liberty, and it's a great place for him to hang out until whatever job he has his eye on opens up

We could do worse for sure. Big upgrade over Dave, but that's true of everyone that's been named on this thread

Zero chance he could set up the sort of cleaning crew in Waco that led to his success in Tuscaloosa.

Baylor won't want to pay what Saban would demand. Besides he might be enjoying his semi-retirement with Aflac commercials & CGD side gigs.

Urban Meyer? Yes, I know it would never happen, but he is one of the greatest coaches of all time, and he's available

I cannot imagine Baylor would ever hire Tom Herman and most fans would not want him.

Do folks even check the records of these folks. Odum is a flash this particular season at UNLV this particular 4 games in. However at the P4 level he was about like we have been over all with Aranda. Herman is 6-11 at FAU. Anthony Lynn is a position coach basically in the NFL. We shouldnt and wouldnt gamble with that type of move again.

Ever since 1997 I have been rather opposed to going with one without HC experience. However the only person without HC experience I might consider and may consider a good hire is current Seahawk OC Ryan Grubb. He may be one of these offensive geniuses we like so much that is out there kind of under the radar. I think the only reason he is not the Bama OC right now is because he stayed behind and thought he might get promoted to HC at UW. He was successful as an OC as well with QBs other than Penix.

Need a head coach that knows what it's like to DEVELOP players and have an IDENTITY.
Look for coaches that are available and who have developed players and got drafted by the NFL.

We missed a great opportunity when UH signed Fritz

No we didn't. Fritz didn't win until year 7. Tulane won 2 games in his year 6. The howlers here would have had a fit with a HC performing like Fritz.

Cignetti was who I wanted last year, but we lost our chance

I think we would be very dumb to consider a coordinator again. I am also soured on "geniuses".

The Tulane dude is probably realistic and intriguing depending on how he finishes the season at Tulane. 32, but they've had a fairly rough schedule with Kansas State and Oklahoma.

I think Kinne can be scratched off of any top 5 short list. He's had 4 pretty boneheaded coaching displays in 4 of his 17 FBS games as the head man though I think he could still grow the program back to at least the levels that they were at in yr 2 and 3 of Rhule and get the donors behind him for NIL, get attendance up and improve brand up like he was able to do at TXST.

I think the Sam Houston State guy is a great coach, but I think he's like 65, and I wonder if he would be interested in a rebuild

Clearly. The curious thing, though, is that even if Baylor were to hire Saban & he had all the resources he needed, there is no guarantee that the football program would attain a championship level.

I literally laughed when I typed the idea of getting saban and had not thought of anything beyond that.

If we are going to indulge in fantasizing, I agree there is no guarantee that saban could move us to a championship level. His name alone bring instant credibility and he would likely propel us further than anyone else currently out there.

I don't think he likes NIL or the idea of paying players and I get the feeling it is one reason, perhaps small, on why he retired.

Speaking of old dudes, can Pete Carroll still walk?

If so, get his ass in here. We may be able to squeeze 5-6 good seasons out of him.

Who Baylor should look at should a change occur in the next 2 years and his success continue is Alex Golesh. The two years he was OC at Tenn. they looked just like our Briles teams. He is 9-9 currently as HC at USF. He is in year 2. However USF won only 5 games over the 3 seasons prior to his becoming the HC.
